What home improvement work did you do today?

Changed the bathroom color from blue to an off white. Now I have the rest of the upstairs to do.

 

Decided to put the whiskey on display in my game room/office. Had to paint the wall black frost and then threw up some new fake old barnwood. Waiting on black pipe to come in for the shelf supports and then have some real reclaimed barnwood for the shelving.


Also the carpet got installed today as well so that made me a bit more happy and one more thing checked off the list.

 

Haha. But it is up to date. LED board under that diffuser.

 

Previous owners put asphalt shingles over the original wood shake roof. We decided to go solar so both roofs had to come off and they had to sheath the whole thing. Had them replace all of the facia boards as well and upgrade the electrical panel since they wee the old push button breakers....tomorrow's inspection is for the lath around the electrical panel so they can stucco it up and get the final inspection.

 

Nah, I’ve got way too many cans in this house already and I do have a dimmer for that room. Also, finished her today.

 

Thanks, I started out winging it and then realized I need to figure out a random pattern with the colors and then the boards being 48” threw another curve ball with trying to keep joints random and not have just two boards per layer so I kept running upstairs and outside to my chop saw

 

Fly out to KY and we can do the bourbon trail with @Tundra2 . I did part of the trail in April and it was great.

 

I dig the rustic look.

 

Installed a beam to open the kitchen and living room spaces in a house we just bought. Gutted the paneling to make way for Sheetrock.

 

Not trying to be an armchair inspector here - but with that span, I hope you put in more than a single jack stud under the ends of that beam...

Aside from that, it looks great. It's amazing how opening up a wall can make a huge difference.

The picture must be deceiving, there is a double 2x4 Jack stud on the ends and a 4x4 post center on a 19 foot span.

 

I kinda wondered when I went back and looked at it again.

We had a house inspection last week. No problems in the crawl space (actually my space is huge, I can walk the area). He recommended putting a small fan between the two vented areas, as the air was not moving much in the middle. Came with a sped controller, so running it at 75% speed. Debating if I should add a vent fan to one side also.

 

holy shit - I'd have made a space that big a basement!

Haha…. We were supposed to downsize, we have a 900 sq ft basement. We really should not need more space, but I have thought about it.
