I ran into an interesting issue when I rotated in my 5th full size spare. I didn't realize there wasn't a TPMS sensor in the spare I rotated in, but I ordered an OEM sensor and had Discount Tire install it. They couldn't get the sensor to register to the truck so they sent me to the dealership. After talking to 2 techs, it appears the new Tundra can only store 4 sensor codes at a time, and they're charging me $70 every time I rotate tires for them to re-register the 5th sensor.

Is this right? this doesn't sound right. I would love to just do this myself but wondering if any of you guys have any knowledge on the topic. I have the Carista module and app that I tried to register the new sensor, but that didn't work. Wondering if I need TechStream to do it right?

    Rci skid plate,
Yes they have to hook up the scan tool to do it and that doesn’t take the same time as a basic rotate. If I can ask why are rotating in the 5th wheel. Is it matching from the factory?

yeah I have a matching 5th tire/wheel I wanted to keep in rotation to keep the wear even. But I was advised to just rotate the 4 and keep the 5th out of rotation so they don't have to reprogram the sensors

I thought the new trucks could store up to 8.
I simply put new tpms into my winter set and after one day of driving they registered fine.

New tundra supports 8, but it’s split between 2 sets, so truck will report on the first set of 4 or the 2nd set of 4, but not any of the 8 at the same time, at least that’s how it was explained to me

That’s a real bummer. I may just rotate the 4 and keep the 5th out of rotation.
