Coming from a 2003 F150, in the first wintery weather of my ownership. In 4Hi on ice in the Ford I would gun it around a corner and the tires would stick with no fish tailing. This newer Tundra, at least momentarily, spins and fishtails. Am I just used to old tech or is something wrong here?

    Thanks
    Nick

It sounds like your trying to spin and fish tail, not very smart for icy conditions

You probably just had better tires on the ford.

Alternatively, less power on the ford (more torque breaks tires free)

More weight in the back for some reason...etc.

The Ford had all 4 wheels going at all times on 4Hi, I’m trying to figure out if these newer ones just decide when to engage all 4.

So when you engage it on the Tundra at least in my truck I can feel the transfer case engaging the front 2 wheels and the truck does become a full time 4x4. Similar to the Ford.

Same thing when you disengage 4x4 to 2x4 you can feel it. At least on my truck.

BTW you can put this truck on 4x4 on the fly.
