Yes, I am the same newbie that keeps asking newbie type questions. :crapstorm:

Im not asking if a SABM is worth the money because its a lot cheaper than a aftermarket CAI. My questions are more along the lines of in a 2014 Tundra, does it make much sense to install. Im not looking for adding too much more power but if it helps the truck breathe a bit better it may be worth the $100.

Any thoughts or experiences with a SABM?

    TIA :hattip:

The stock Tundra airbox is already a CAI. The reviews/posts regarding the Stock Air Box Mod are mixed at best. Some say they feel a difference, and others say they don't. I don't think anyone has actually put a truck on a dyno to get before and after readings on it. Personally, I doubt it has any impact beyond the placebo effect.

It’s worth doing. It’s easy, inexpensive. And works.

Keith, do you know if the kit for the 2nd gen will fit the 2.5 gen? I have the kit that I took out of my 2013 but I know the air intake boxes are a little different in the 14 and up. Thanks.

Check the build link in my signature.
I did my own on my 2008. Didn’t notice much difference other than a more pronounced whistle when I got on the throttle hard.

on my ‘21 I just put the TRD intake piece on my airbox instead of the standard one and deleted the carbon filter in the lid of the air box.

No harm in doing the SABM, butt dyno approves. You can do a diy kit using hardware store pipes or hose flanges from places like Amazon too. Most people seem to be able to get the parts for 30$ or so. The most gut wrenching part is using a hole saw on the inner fender panel haha.

I did the SABM along with TRD intake and throttle body spacer on my 08. It made a difference definitely

I’ve never read about them fitting or tried so this is only a complete guess. I would think it would work, but the newer air box is shorter. Existing kits could potentially have too big a tube for between the box and wheel well.

So now I am curious to know if certain SABM kits are better than others? My skill level is not up to going to home depot or lowes and piecing one together so I have to google search them or look on eBay.

They may be technically the same. Maybe the better question is which kit instructions are easy to understand for newbies like me? :bananadance: haha
