That's an interesting thought. Paired with a Fumoto, that could save some wrenching during oil changes...

Main reason it was off in the first place is b/c I knew I'd be doing a bunch of flushes and short-interval oil changes once I saw what was under the valve covers.

Has anyone here actually installed and catalytic converter guards? We are starting to get a lot more of that happening here.

I haven't, but mostly because I'm parked in a garage all the time. That, and with the extra clutter associated with 4WD, I assume someone would opt for a 2WD, lower hanging fruit and all. Honda Elements are *huge* down here to be targeted. Our friend's ex-b/f has gotten hit 3x already in his parking deck, and it's controlled-access.

I was sweating bullets though, we've had thefts on my actual street during the last 18 months, less than 5 houses away. Mom & Dad were in town from Thurs-Mon, parking their 2.5 Gen on the street and I shudder every time. Fortunately they just went out and bought a '23 Corolla LE (2.0/non-hybrid/40mpg) last week and will be driving that from now on, so if they're not hauling, won't need to worry about it anymore.

I feel like there has to be something possible to make it near-impossible to legally sell used cats, or make the process so freaking painful it makes the effort not worth it somehow. Granted, the jackasses would probably just find a way to open them up and gut the platinum/palladium/rhodium out, so it's not legally a "cat" anymore...

Tree branch from the one marked to cut fell on the wife's car last night, good sized dent. Entirely predictable. Think we have another week or two to wait before we get it down.

My brakes are so much better I was able to move my seat back since the pedal no longer goes as far.
The more I think about it, I just want to toss the 14WA calipers in the trash. Doesn't seem worth the hassle of shipping.

I'm glad you got it squared away Erik! You went to the 13WLs or whichever is bigger. Yes?

I'll bet if that was the bed of your 02 Tundra, it wouldn't have dented.

I'd take it to one of those dent repair places that specialize in pulling out those types of dents so it doesn't have to be filled in by an autobody shop and repainted.

Normally they charge $75/ding but I'm not sure what that would cost. Maybe $200-$250?

It’s not so much that the car has a dent, it’s that I now have lost space inside the garage :). Oh well. Really want my own tent of pain.

Don't be this guy... I would never be this stupid, but I've loaded and unloaded enough struts that I know I'm probably overdue for an accident, which is why I prefer not doing it myself anymore.

This is what I was going to say, but some tips from someone that's paid for PDR before.

Expect to pay $400-800 depending on your local market. Do yourself a favor and remove as much trim as necessary to give them clear access to the back of the panel. If a PDR guy can't get to the spot directly to pry against it, most'll drill whatever hole is necessary to get leverage behind the dent.

You may find by removing the cargo area trim that you'll be able to get direct access and push the dent 90% of the way there, but a good PDR guy will make it 100% invisible. If the paint is still "young" it'll have a little flex in it still and that helps the end result a lot.

Last job I had done (I can post before/after from same truck I showed seam sealer cracks on) ran me around $1200 to pull out two dents about the size of your one, plus two other about 1/3 the size. But it was cheaper than re-painting.
