    Hello Everyone!

Does anyone know why my rear driver side brake pads are wearing out so quick? Like around 5K miles down to the metal. The wheels also have a ton of black brake dust. I'm thinking it from my e-brake not releasing but I haven't had a chance to jack the rear up yet to see if the wheels spin freely. I will do that this weekend. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The parking brake is a small drum brake inside of the rotor, so if it was stuck on that wouldn't wear the service brake pads. Sounds like a stuck caliper. Do you live in an area with a lot of rust/salt?

I now live in Atlanta where it snow 1-2 days a year but the snow usually melts once in reached the ground. I purchased the Truck used in Ohio where it snows like crazy with nothing but rust on the bottom.

I just saw some videos on YouTube on fixing stuck calipers so I'll give it a shot this weekend.

New caliper should set you straight - I’d look to see if any others have been replaced yet and plan accordingly.

If it was metal on metal for an extended period, the rotor is probably shot too.

Are both inner and out pads wearing, be sure slider pins are free..if free then caliper replacement is due. Best to do both sides..
