Looking at going with a back tension release for the bow and want to hear your thoughts if anyone here is using one. I currently have a tru fire hook release and notice I was punching the trigger. I know that’s probably due to lack of practice but I heard this release would eliminate that punching problem. Also share your recommendations. This is what I’m considering.

You can still punch a hinge. It’s uuuugly too. That said, I keep one on hand for when my shot sequence needs a little reprogramming. It helps you to aiiiiiim and let the shot break as a surprise. I don’t hunt with one because a wrist strap index release is just too simple and convenient.

I hunt with a thumb after hunting and target shooting an index release for years. Shot a Scott brass long horn for a few years and really enjoyed it. I liked a click, some do not. The click helped me bare down and keep my shot sequence on track. I think Dudley makes a good little trainer. Get one from him or another on the market and a hinge and practice, practice, practice. But commit. Don’t shoot for a while. Then go to blind bale with it and so on and so forth.

I like using the back release when I am practicing but I dont like them for hinting. To much going through my head, I trust my wrist trigger system.
