Going to buy a used one soon

Hi joined to get some info and read up on some of the advice already posted here.

I did find a thread on MPG and noted it covered a lot but I did not see if having a Cab hight canopy would improve mpg.

Also so far I have seen 5 4x4 Tundras, 1 plain jane double cab LBed, A Sport double cab TRD, a SR5 double cab and a 1794 crewmax. All had under 60k mi. What surprised me was the amount of surface rust on things like hose clamps and along every frame weld.

 

Those long bed double cabs are cool.

Just keep looking, check out towns or states close to you as well. You will find the right one.

and on MPG, only thing you can do to enhance MPG with a tundra is to keep it stock height and roll on stock size, standard load tires. That will get you 13-18MPG depending. Doing what we normally do to trucks, lift and some larger tires, will drop MPG of course.

 

Thanks I plan to more or less keep it stock. Maybe TRD suspension when it needs new.

I'd guess the rust issues would have a lot to do with where you live.
I'm in Dallas and I don't have much rust on my 2014..

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! The only mention of MPG's and any type of canopy (camper/shell, etc.) that I remember seeing basically stated that any aerodynamic help was offset by the additional weight.

I am in Vancouver BC (updated my profile) I have been looking at mostly certified dealer trucks. I can possibly buy a under 60k mi truck for about half what the new ones are going for. I also think the high prices of the "supply chain" issue is coming to an end. Around here the prices listed on the Toyota Canada web site are usually discounted when you look up the dealers own web site.
