Anyone switch from a taco to a tundra?

If at some point in the future I needed to switch to an HD truck, I would probably daily a Taco. But there’s no way a Taco could be my only truck.

It had done a lot of work to it and was hard getting rid of it. The Tundra is a work in progress I have added paint matched bumper ends since this picture. I have the pro grill as well but kind of digging the brushed grill for now.

Had a 2020 tacoma off road moved to 2021 tundra and had always been full suze truck owner but a few points the taco seating position was ok but on longer trips it would kill my back more like sitting in a car then a truck never got use to it. The other thing was if i am getting 17 miles gallon hell full size at 15 give me 15 and a v8. The taco was fine i am just a full size truck guy tried the mid size and nope.

I don't doubt it. The taco is a great daily driver even with the lift and larger tires but when its time to actually use it for truck things its damn near impossible.

I was also a tad bit disappointed with the payload capacity compared to the big three. However, the times I do tow I just need something a tad bit more robust than my tacoma. I would reconsider if I was towing something like a 5th wheel, fortunately thats not the case.

I had that issue as well. I ended up getting the seat jackers and my discomfort went away. Towing a small trailer/boat I was getting ~14mpg, at that point might as well get a full size.

I went from a 2005 Taco TRD Sport that I loved and drive for 15 years to my 20 Tundra TRD Pro. I love the extra room and performance of the Tundra.....just wish it had my old Taco's gas mileage.

I'm actually going to be downsizing to a Taco from the Tundra. I love the Tundra, but it's so much more than I need. I wanted a Tacoma when I bought the Tundra, but a couple missing features and some life plans made the Tundra a better option at the time. Well, the features got added and the plans went all to poo, so now I'm going to get the truck I wanted in the first place. It's nothing against the Tundra at all, and I love it. I'll miss the V8, the power/acceleration, and the cab space, but I drove my buddies base model Taco and fell in love.

I know @LarryDangerfield went back to a Tacoma (eventually) but I don't think he had any regrets about the Tundra.

Be honest about what you want from it, what it's shortcomings are (payload/towing limits, MPGs, dated tech), and if it still appeals you'll be a happy Tundra owner!

I want to downsize to a TRD Off-road Taco, I love my Tundra but it’s way to big, sucks hand washing it, I rarely haul anything anymore and its a pain to park/maneuver in most of these parking lots that are designed for mid size cars.

I did because of a travel trailer. If it wasn’t for that I would rather have the Tacoma .

Taco to Tundra convert here. Zero ragerts. Honestly wish I had just got the Tundra to begin with. Taco was a great little truck but I needed a full size for the towing and hauling.

That was why I bought the Tundra as well. Part of those plans that went to poo. Same for the big cabin of the CrewMax. I can count on one hand the number of times I have had passengers back there. A midsize just suits me.

My father in law has a taco and I recently bought a Tundra. He still loves his Taco and wants another one hahaha. I am more than happy with my Tundra but I have small children and two dogs and need the space.

Had a 2014 Tacoma and went to a 2020 Tundra. I loved that Tacoma. Just a great overall midsize truck and was fun to drive. I didn't NEED a Tundra but I wanted one and I have no ragrets on it.

Traded my 2013 Taco for a 2020 Tundra. Couldn't be happier. I loved the Taco, but I honestly found that I don't go off road nearly as much as I'd like and that cargo capacity is really what I needed.

I found that I was constantly pulling the trailer around with the taco because I couldn't fit everything in the bed. I hardly use the trailer anymore. Mileage is worse, but not by a whole lot. Probably because for the Taco to get out of its own way, I really had to push it. Not so much with the Tundra.

I always used to say, if you think you live in a flat area get a 3rd gen Tacoma and it will change your mind. That thing would hunt gears constantly if it was on an upward incline of any degree. It could be 1' over a mile... shifting all over the place.

    Went from this:

Had a 2018 Tacoma Off-road, now in a 2020 Tundra. And I absolutely love the jump, especially having kids and dogs. Tacoma was cool as a single dude renting for sure. Get the same gas mileage honestly as well!

I went from a Taco to a Jeep Gladiator to a Tundra. I hated the way the Taco drove, and although the Gladiator was good at being a Jeep, it was a horrible truck and can't hold a candle to Toyota's reliability.

I went in a different order. Jeep liberty to Taco to Tundra.

To be honest that Jeep was the last Mopar product I will ever own. Once I rolled 100k, it was a laundry list of shit breaking. Finally when the oil pan started to rot through and realized that to replace it meant pulling the engine it gone.

Found a great deal on my '13 Taco (used with 12k) and was very happy. Only had 65k on it when I traded it in for the Tundra. This one I'll keep 'till the wheels fall off.

I owned 5 Tundras as service trucks for my small business. When I had grown to the point that I knew I would always be office/sales calls and never doing any service work I bought a 3rd gen. Taco for myself. Fast forward 2 years & I had a chance to sell for a major cash-out so I did. All the trucks went with the company. I replaced my Taco with another Tundra. I'm not that tall but couldn't ever seem to learn to get in the Tacoma without hitting my head. Loving the larger truck for sure.

I had a long commute, so was pretty much forced to go el cheapo 2.7L access cab. Traded my '17 Taco with 189k miles in Feb of this year. Now that my work commute is only 6 miles ... Tundra time and no looking back. Well, I do miss rowing my own gears, but the difference of power is fairly insane.

Never had a Tacoma, but I did (still do) have an '89 Hilux 4x4. Been doing my short trip heavy lifting and towing with my '72 GMC 3/4ton 4x4.

Was doing my daily driving/commuting with Kia. Now that I'm working from home most of the time, could justify getting my Tundra since mileage wasn't as much of an issue. And the GMC has earned a retirement and full frame-off restoration.
