Short and Sweet..................Got to wondering one day if the homelink garage door opener buttons on the rearview mirror could be programmed to operate other things.

Bought one of those cheap Amazon/ebay remote control light bar wiring harnesses that come with a relay and a little pocket remote control, got out my homelink programming instructions.......held down the button on both and bam, the homelink button paired with the relay for the light bar.

Programmed one homelink button for one and one for off with a third free button

This idea had been born out of just hating running wires through the firewall, into the dash, and the look of aftermarket buttons. Now the whole gosh darn light bar relay and little remote box is tucked nicely into the fuse box lid. Loved the idea of the Trigger 4 remote system but the $350 for it seemed painful

Apparently homelink pairs up with just about anything so wondering what else I could control with the 3rd button (besides a garage door)

Hi swaylito, just wondering if your homelink and remote are still working well. I'm in the same boat, sitting on the fence about spending over $400 Canadian on a trigger 4. If so, which wireless unit do you have? There are so many and they come with many bad reviews. I don't need a gimmicky strobe or dimmer, just a reliable on/off switch.
    Thank you.
