Hot off the presses, or at least the voicemail from my service advisor. As you've seen elsewhere here, (like this thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/spray-in-bed-liner-on-composite-beds.105475/#post-2845838), lots of folks are having spray-in bedliner issues where it peels or chunks come out.

According to my writer, Toy has seen enough vehicles with this issue and is now working on a service bulletin and repair instructions for dealers to fix the problem. It'll be interesting what they decide to do.

My truck's done a few dump runs and the like and has a handful of areas where baseball-sized chunks have come off the bed. It's not a huge deal to me, but I imagine that when I get the first load of gravel tossed in there, the bed will show some more wear quickly.

Thanks. I was told that the dealer had "an update email about a website where we have to submit a ticket so that they can send us info about how to repair the vehicle, and Toyota will come out with a service bulletin". So we'll see!

Line-X has mine half way removed and should be finishing up tomorrow which is all being covered under warranty.

That's the way to go. The factory bedliner method of saving money looks to be biting them in the ass now.
I don't think they're properly scuffing up the composite bed and applying enough primer before spraying the liner. The areas where chunks come off, show that the composite isn't even prepped underneath properly.

Yeah, my tailgate section came off by hand and most of the corners came up easily. Surprisingly they said the middle of the bed adhered well. They had said its a pretty strange material they used and extremely thin. The OEM liner is more of a rubber and Line-X is actually a harder material is what was explained to me. Also, they had mentioned it was just weird how they didn't roll the edges on corners which is prone to being snagged.

My dealer got OK'd for a liner removal and reapplication under warranty (not sure if Line-X or other, will find out). They want the truck for 2 days.

A small update. Toyota outsourced to a local-to-them shop that does offroad work including Line-X. The initial estimate was 2 days for the bed reline plus a 15k service, and when I called today to make sure the job would be done before I picked up the truck, the service writer told me that the Line-X shop was having a hard time removing the old stuff and want another day, so hopefully the truck is back on Monday.

So I have a weekend without the truck. Not a huge problem, but it's a hassle.

Is Toyota halting the production of spray in liners? I feel fortunate that my truck didn't get allocated with the spray in liner. I owned an 05 Taco and loved the composite bed, but I wouldn't consider getting a spray in liner. The composite bed has flex and probably isn't the best material to adhere a liner to whether scuffed up or not. I'm not sure if there are a lot older liners on early Tacos but that may give some good insight as to how well they will perform long term. I hope the line x takes care of the issue for you all. I installed the black armour bed mat and think it's a great alternative and less money I have only had it for a short time but so far seems to keep things from moving around. I have read the OEM one does good at keeping cargo put too
