    2002 Tundra SR5
Two days ago I picked up a 2002 Tundra SR5. It has very low mileage at 266,726 miles. My son owns a shop and replaced the front and rear suspension, front brakes, both front and rear bumpers, trailer hitch and a bunch of mechanical stuff like differential seals, hoses, window regulator, muffler, hitch receiver and brake lines. The tail gate handle and the drivers door handle he left for me. (Although I really like the cable pull release that lets me open the door so I may leave that one!) He went underneath and welded all the rotted metal but missed a 1" square somehow. Maybe it won't break there. The tires are kick ass. I am a sucker for tires. The bed is rusting so a sheet of plywood with a truck bed liner on top of it should keep it going for awhile. The body has no blemishes anywhere. He let me have it for about 1/2 low blue book, exactly what he had into it. I have always been a Jeep guy with a CJ5, Wrangler and two Grand Cherokees currently but it has been 35 years since my last pick-up, a badly used awesome 60s vintage Dodge 3/4 Ton that helped me work my way through college. So the Tundra has a lot to live up to. My Grand Cherokee has a Hemi so the V8 4.7l is very welcome in the Tundra.

I had asked him to keep his eyes open for a throwaway pick-up to carry my Royal Enfield Himalayan and myself out to California to pick up some Yamaha XT-500s that I left there when I moved the family to Indiana in 1989. Did I mention that I am old? I plan on reliving some memories of riding the dessert while I am there. Rather than rent a truck, etc... Hopefully one that would make it back. After that who cares? It turns out I do. I love this truck! It is totally solid, extremely user friendly and the 4 wheel drive works like butter. Tons of research lead me to believe that it is one of the good ones. I leave Tuesday and it needs nothing but to load and go. I am looking forward to taking the Tundra off road in the desert. I am going alone but I don't believe the truck will leave me stranded anywhere.

What a truck! You guys know what you are doing. I am very much looking forward to being part of the forum.
