Text Message Notification Blaringly Loud

In my 2016 Limited I have upgraded my audio system. Speakers, sub, amp & cross-overs. Not sure the brand of the amp or cross-over. Kept stock head unit. Every time I get a text, there is an ear-piercing sound through the speakers even when the stereo is off. I have a shitty LG phone, so I paired my wife’s Samsung S10, and same thing. Anyone else experience this?

Does your head unit have ootions in it to turn down notification sounds?

 

I have seen the text alert on my screen once or twice (‘17) but frequently the phone or head unit spazzes out.
I don’t remember if there was a sound attached to it.
For the last month it doesn’t do anything when I get a text.

Maybe there is a setting for that? I think the non-intuitive settings menu was made up by someone who would NEVER have to use it.
