Tundras sit too low. Unfortunately you have to lift them compared to stock Chevys

It’s a shame they should raise them stock!

Already ordered a '23 Tundra on the way should be here beginning of Nov. I just think it would be nice to have a little more lift and rake like the Silverado / Sierra without having to pay for a lift and new tires. Just venting a little.... you know you agree

I actually like the rake on the Colorados...booty way up there.

 

But every time I get behind a Chevy I always cringe when I see where the lower shock mounts are.... why are they so close to the pumpkin? It's like having a pumpkin that's 3 feet wide, making it hard to avoid getting hung up on a rock.

 

Personally coming from a Ford Raptor; I like not to have to climb into or out of the truck.

 

If your goal is to have the tallest truck on the road then the Toyota sits too low.
If your goal is to have a great ride and driving experience then the Toyota sits just fine. Have you ridden in a Trail Boss?
On top of that, my truck fits in the garage, does not require extra steps to get inside. I can also easily lift things onto my tailgate and into my box

I am fairly sure the my Toyota has more ground clearance, a better approach angle and at least as much suspension travel.

 

I also disagree. From purely what I see on the road I don't think the Chevy's sit higher. If they do it has to be a negligible difference no?

 

Chevys are lifted for mechanic clearance not ground clearance.

 

You should have followed title with ‘unpopular opinion’. While I agree that Toyota sucks in many, many ways. You’re posting this in the wrong place. A lot of these people have a weird affinity for Toyota and will bash down anything you say about any other car manufacturer, no matter how little they know about the topic.

 

Yup I see that every time I am behind a Chevy/GMC Pickup.

Chevys/GMC need to be raised due to the old man balls suspension as Cruzer said.
Which model has the back brake line just hanging there on the drivers side waiting to be clipped ? Yukon?

I can see this suspension on their HD trucks to help out with the ride - but the offroad model?

Heard and I apologize! I definitely had the Toyota bug when buying my first (2022) tundra and seeing its shortcomings after 23k miles, I will never be back to Toyota.

 

I’m in week 2 of my hybrid limited TRD OR. Our purchasing director just bought a new Chevy. The chin spoiler has about 4 inches of ground clearance. The body on the Chevy is taller giving it a higher look but actual clearance is about the same at every other point. That chin spoiler though….

 

It gives the EPA a big ol' hard on. I am interested to see how it does with snow and ice build up. If anyone has experience in genuinely interested to hear. I ordered a TRD Off Road package so I won't have it

 

Just to be clear I have the TRD package so my truck doesn’t have it. I’ll get photos of the trucks side by side for comparison after I get back from an on site eval.

Both trucks have been bought in the last week and a half. The Chevy has taller tires stock. If the tires were the same size it wouldn’t be this close.



The clearance at the front is better on the Tundra unless you discount the chin spoiler that wouldn’t survive 20 yards off any shoe fly here. The Limited interior is nicer than this truck. There is a Denali AT4 in the parking lot as well. The clearances aren’t any different. The Denali interior is nicer though. None of these are close to the Raptor or the Power Wagon on clearance. I don’t like Ford interiors. I like the Linited interior over the Ram. The puck shifter is .

 

I have a TRD Off-Road 4x4 Limited and it has the active spoiler up front. Not sure if you guys up North get anything different?

You can retract the spoiler depending on what mode the truck is in. It also can be placed into service mode, which is required to pull the skid plate / change the oil. Anyhow, I believe in 4WD it stays retracted, and I want to stay the spoiler will stay in the down position (better MPG) for a broader speed range when placed into eco mode, etc. If you want to read more about it, I recall the details being somewhere in the owner's manual.

I want to see nothing under there. Nothing to get caught or get grabbed.

They seriously put the front spoiler on your OFF ROAD model?

Up north here getting the TRD OR package deletes the front spoiler. Any chance you are thinking the active grille shutters?
