    Greetings and salutations all!

New forum member but longtime Toyota fan... 4Runner, Taco, 1st Gen Tundra, and just upgraded to a CPO 2019 CM, SR5, TRD 4X4.

Loved my 2000 4.7, I pestered my FIL for years to sell it to me. Bought it form him with 155K and just sold it with 205K

It served me well for 6 years and never left me stranded (well, except for that LBJ failure, but that was just a few miles from home) but man, the 5.7 is a whole 'nother kind of beast!

What a difference there is having 136 more HP, 86 ft/lbs. more TQ, a couple more gears, a massive back seat that a normal sized human can actually ride in, and 20 years of IT advancements available with the push of my thumbs.

I tow a small travel trailer and the 4.7 performed adequately, but I feel like the towing experience is going to be night and day, and much more relaxing with the 4:30's, bigger brakes, Tow/Haul, and did I mention gobs more HP/TQ?

So far I've just added an MX4 tonneau cover, and I don't think I'll be going to mod crazy.

I'd love to lift/level it with some 35's, but I'd have to permanently disable the real-time MPG readout. I finally switched that screen over to display the speedo so I don't have to see my horrible city mileage. At least with the '00 it was out of sight, out of mind. :lalala:
Hwy is actually not too bad.

Thanks for having me and I enjoy looking at all your beautiful badass trucks.

    Aloha, Bruce

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. Looks like you need some in channel - window vent shades and tinted windows. Those are not “upgrades” just a few items the dealer should have installed. Nice truck.

Ooohh, nice truck!! :bananadance: Looks oddly familiar.

The pic I pasted of the window deflectors isn't mine, just confirming those were what you were talking about.

Pin striping looks good... you must drink decaf. :D

From good ole Utah, very long time loyal Toyota owner (I have had several fords sorry but we will get to that) let’s start from day age 16’
    1986 4Runner 22re (416,000 b4 gave it Away)
    From that:
    1988 4runner
    2003 4runner 4.7 v8 (miss this)
    2008 Camry
    2008 Tundra 5.7
    2012 Tundra 5.7 Supercharged
    2014 Tundra 5.7 (current)
    2016 Lexus rx350f (the wives)

Been stalking this site for years and decided it’s time I join due to the vast amount of information and the fun I see from y’all. My current Tundra like all of my Toyotas have been near flawless with only maintenance visits to the dealership and I am a firm believer of taken care of you vehicle and will take care of you. It has 127,000 on it now with 0 issues to this day, every possible fluid exchange done (I’m lucky because I am over 2 F**D service shops) so it’s cheap.
I have a 2022 Tundra limited trd Hybrid in wind chill Pearl or order.

I reread my message to you, and I apologize for coming off snarky. I do hope you get as much out of this site as I have, and maybe be able to contribute some as well.

Just razzin' ya'... it's all good. Welcome, glad you finally joined. With all the 'Yotas you've had I'm sure you have some good experience to share.

Did I read that right, you had 400K+ miles on the 4Runner?

Yes sir, that’s 22re would not die and beat the hell out of it. The only thing I did was regular small items: starters, alternators, plugs and two u joints.
As far as knowledge goes I have owned quite a few yotas, graduated from an old tech program in Utah (Toyota T10 technician program) and currently am the Service Director over 2 Large Ford shops out here. I work at Ford for obvious reasons, they break constantly and I make more money

I have a young friend who is a master tech for Land Rover. He said there are Land Rover dealerships that have stopped accepting appointments because they are so backed up. His own dealership's backlog is already into March of next year. This kid says they pay him an insane amount of money.

Ain’t that the truth, with the new car shortage. People are just repairing their car more and spending way more money. However now you have a staffing issue (due to various reasons like lazy generation to technicians as a whole) then add way more appointments it is very hard to control the flow.
