Today I brought the Tundra home, complete with the Adventure Motors KC suspension set at just about 3” in the front.

Took the family for a ride tonight and the wife is definitely going to need sliders to get in the truck comfortably.

You need steps, not sliders. Sliders tuck under the door frames and offer rock and boulder protection while off reading but no step. Toyota offers many steps, pick the ones you like most.

Congratulations on the beautiful new truck! Looks like lots of fun is in your future!
While some sliders do provide descent steps, they are primarily designed for protection while off-roading from serious boulder damage. If you are not really off-roading, consider getting steps/running boards. There’s lots of options and they are much less expensive

I got RCI sliders for mine.
Don't use em much for off-roading, but feel safer when I do.
Wife and kids like them as steps.
Then are another 100lbs+ of steel affecting your total weight.
If you aren't going to use em, you can probably do better for steps.
But they are also good for "side armor".

I have them on my 2019.

Having owned OEM steps and and now RCI sliders...I'll never buy "steps" again. The sliders are way more robust and solid, easy to touch up if needed and offer vehicle protection.

Yeah, not a fan of steps. I’m going to wait for a slider that has just enough for my wife to use as a step. I feel like steps are contradictory to a 4x4 truck and definitely wouldn’t go with the way my truck build is setup.

I think so. Westcott said theirs are almost done. Probably Nov release.

Exactly my thoughts. Even angled sliders will give her enough to get a toe in and leverage up.

What??? Sliders are for protection AND double as steps. Sliders are still on your truck after wheeling, steps... maybe not.

I'm very happy with my RCI sliders. Very solid thick steel.
    They are 100% bolt on.
According the instructions, bolt on alone is sufficient to lift the truck by the sliders. Optional drilling for additional bolts for additional reinforcement if you'd like.
I chose not to get the tread plate.
It does have a "kick out", which I think is useful.
I chose to have them powder coated. Last set of sliders and plates I got for a 4runner I chose to paint myself. After that I said NEVER AGAIN! And my truck is black so black powder coat matches well. :)

It didn't noticeably affect my gas mileage.
With two skid plates, sliders, and a steel bumper, I still get around 15.5mpg average.
Another aspect to this discussion is it's 'cheap insurance'. If you ever need it, you'll be glad you have it.

Yup. I completely agree with you and am glad I finally splurged for true sliders, after having tin metal OEM steps that had plastic inserts that were loose after a year.

I added RCI sliders, top plates, kick out, transmission and engine skids, cat protectors and haven't notice a smidgen of gas mileage difference. I'd rather have them on and not need them, than need them and not have them.

As for steps over sliders because you aren't wheeling or rock crawling. It's the pure fact that they are ONE piece and not attached to the body of your vehicle. Add to that, they do offer protection from impact and won't break and crack under the stress of 2 adults standing on them as they get into the vehicle at the same time. Up here in the snow belt, they will be repairable and DIY sand/paint/touch up, in the event of rust, unlike the cheap steps.

While I agree with you in theory, in their defense: in today's "economy" companies are doing everything they can to stay afloat. It takes time, and hence money, to provide support in this forum.

Some forums don't allow Vendors to intervene with spam and advertising of their products, outside vendor forums or when specifically asked. It prevents schilling and false forum hype.

I'm not sure where this one stands on it.

I don't expect any vendor to scour the forums and offer advise on their products in random threads.. In fact, I prefer it when vendors don't interject in every thread where their product may be of use.

If it's a good product, like RCI, WKOF CBI, word of mouth and member referal is better than vendor reply.

@Unashamed I feel it's up to the buyer to seek out the info if it's available. Obviously, the 2022 offerings are more limited than my archaic 2019.

But too many people here post things like "How much will it cost me for an oil change". As they are too lazy or afraid to talk to someone or do the research themselves.

Add to that, makers and shops should not be expected to have a forum social media presence. They usually have FB, YT and Instagram. If they had to employ someone to also monitor forums (multiple Tundra as well as Toyota and all the other vehicles they make them for), where does it end?

I've been on various forums for decades....long before YT, FB or Instagram existed.

I don't have any social media presence outside forums. I'd be happy if there was nothing outside of forums to look for makers and their info, outside their site.

    You're not full of it.
    You have excellent points.
I think it's another symptom of today's decaying society.
All marketing spiel, most of which is garbage. (non forums ... "social media" and web pages)
Which is why hard forums like this exist.

    Good question.

This site does not charge to be a vendor and are chosen carefully. Potential vendors are turned down all the time.

Vendors are asked to be active on the site. The ones that log in once every few months get the boot.

Vendors can advertise on their page, group buy sections, and answer technical questions about their product. Product bashing between vendors is frowned upon.
