    playing around with the ideal of putting a supercharger on the tundra. Anyone have any feed back on the pros or cons.

    Pro's:
    Awesome power and torque
    That sweet sweet supercharger whine
    Brings all the girls to the yard
    Helps fuel economy if you can stay out of the boost

    Cons
    Must run premium gas
    Costs a left kidney
    increased strain on drivetrain
    Going to need a crewmax to carry aforementioned females
    Decreases fuel economy from wanting to hear the whine and feel the pull leaving every stop light (no racing though ;))

    As far as driveline strain goes I ran mine hard at times and didn't have a single issue. Keep in mind the drivetrain is rated by Toyota at 550ft/lb of torque.

    Hello,

    Rather than to post this on your FB page, I wanted to provide Toyota with an opportunity to respond via private message.

    I have purchased seven (7) vehicles from Toyota since 2009. Of those 7, three are from MST. (Most recent was a lease on a 2017 Corolla)

    Like any truck enthusiast, I purchased a brand new Supercharger from Toytec who purchased it from Toyota of Dallas.

    Per TRD warranty, if an authorized Toyota dealer installs it (Stevinson Toyota West) I retain my factory 5/60 powertrain warranty.

    I had my SC installed by Stevinson Toyota West in December 2015 at around 20k miles.

    Mid Spring this year my SC began to produce abnormal sounds (similar to a jar of marbles) I made an appt with Stevinson Toyota who declared it normal. As the noise progressed, I then made an appt with your dealership. One of your techs confirmed the noise is abnormal and requested I bring it back two (2) weeks later when the FST is in the area who can authorize the repair.

    During the meantime, the ASM asked I provide receipts for purchase and install. I gladly emailed both invoices over and told them I do not need a rental vehicle (though it's warranty work) as I have my Corolla I use for work and didn't see it necessary Toyota absorb additional charges.

    The ASM approved the warranty work as did the FST.

    They proceeded to order a replacement part from TRD (nose cone)

    A few days later, they advised me the part they received is faulty and requested the part again.

    I continued to wait patiently as I do not want to rush them. Over the same weekend, I received an email from your ASM who said Toyota now denied the claim as I didn't purchase directly from Toyota (again, despite the TRD warranty card only advising it needs to be installed at an authorized dealer to retain the 5/60 warranty-- otherwise I would have gone elsewhere for a fraction of the install price)

    The ASM continued to advise me MST is out $2k for work they were suddenly decided and I will need to pay out of pocket for any work going forward.

    I asked the ASM for a quote to remove the SC and replace back to factory with me providing the original parts.

    The ASM replied back with around $3k. I hesitantly agreed as I use my truck for many shows and just wanted it back.

    The ASM refused to discount any labor despite the back and forth and told me to contact Toyota.

    Toyota was of little, if any help to me.

    I was shocked at not receiving any assistance despite my continued history with Toyota, and direct purchases from your dealer.

    I have referred at least 3 customers to you who purchased and leased vehicles based off of my recommendation. (I can provide names if needed) I will be hesitating to go back to your dealership when my lease is up on the Corolla next Spring, and my wife's Highlander at the end of this year.

    Nothin that a routine check can't solve. We don't get to do too many that have higher mileage on em. With any type of forced induction system the better the motor has been treated the less problems you'll have in the future. Keep in mind the 3ur-fe motor stock trim doesn't like anything continuous over 600hp. The internals are quite strong but forcing more air down along with combustion will shorten the life especially if you are heavy footed all the time.

    Yours is an actually TRD supercharger right? Under toyotas name? Not the magna charger.

    Kinda shitty, their product, their technicians installed it. who cares where the supercharger was actually purchased.

    Big thing is to know and understand the limitations of the stock motor. Built 3UR-Fe motors haven't taken off yet due to the cost to "bulletproof" one. Meaning knife-edge crankshaft, pauter rods, cp pistons, sleeving the block, port polish heads, oversized valves ( if you want that) dual spring retainers, keepers, bigger fuel system, etc. Don't forget about the transmission needing some attention too.

    You can bolt one close to 600hp as others have with the S/C, headers, exhaust, BD tuner but understand that your knocking on toyota motor heaven's door if you dont strengthen it and go looking for more power.

    That sucks, I hope something goods comes your way from all of that. I want to supercharge my truck, but I also plan on keeping it for 10+ years. My 2002 has been nearly trouble free since 2006 and has almost 260k on it now. Your issues make me a little hesitant to do it. I am almost at 70K miles on my 2014, so I would just install it myself and have my 2 certified mechanic buddy's come over in exchange for beer.

    Since the OP asked for cons, here is my thought. I seriously considered this mod, then decided against it.

    Any mechanical system ran hard will not last as long. There was a relatively long thread over at TT asking for high mileage supercharged Tundras (supercharge miles). We anxiously waited, waited, and there was none for a quite a while. The mileage was something a stock engine will laugh at. And we kept seeing various different members with breakdowns, some of which was catastrophic that required the engine replacement. Since reliability is the most important factor for me, and I have never felt the lack of power with this beast in its stock form, I chose not to do this mod.

    I understand that everyone takes calculated risks. I was not willing to take this risk.
