Pro squat?

    My father got a 2020 Pro based off my recommendation and we have a cabin in Northern Maine and it’s endless miles of dirt roads. I figured the suspension would be perfect for those roads. The only problem is that he keeps a lot of gear in the back and weight, and the truck definitely sits lower in the back. What would be a good way that’s not outrageously expensive to lift the back without effecting the suspension?

    I have the Firestone ride rite airbags on my 2019 Pro and they’ve been awesome. $350 and can install yourself.

    If you just want to even it out, lift shackles will do the trick they are inexpensive, but will not address the actual weight on the truck.

    If you want to address the actual weight that's in there, you will need to increase the spring rate. You've got a couple of options. You can get some bags or some add-a-leaf.

    Best way would be to buy an Adidas track suit and Pro Squat.

    I have the same issue on my Pro when pulling my boat. Currently weighing all my options. No big deal for dumping the boat in the water locally, but if I drag it to the Keys, I would want no squat.

    Firestone Ride Right air bags will do the trick. I have them on mine and love them, will end your squat problem and they ride great

    Tried blocks & shackles, nah
    Add a leaf gets expensive plus it changes the ride when the bed is empty.

    I don't have a Pro, but had the same issue with a 2.5 lift up front/gear in the back. I added Firestone air bags (as a few others have recommended) + Daystar cradles to maintain articulation performance off road. It took about an afternoon to install by myself

    A friend had the same issue. Call Mike C at https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/ and ask for options. The guy is smart and the pricing is good too. Sorry, I can't remember exactly what he recommended, but he also knew the quality of the products which helped.

    I had the same issue with my PRO laying down while towing my Bay Boat. It wasn't terrible but THAT had to be addressed. Considered the Sumo Springs, Air Bags, Road Master Springs, etc. Finally decided on 1.5 inch lift shackles. Way cheaper, providing the results I needed. Simple to install, and presto chango, now my PRO has RAKE, and it rides exactly the same as before. Funny, a guy at the boat ramp asked me if my TRD Pro was a 3/4 Ton. He said his PRO does not sit that high in the rear. Told and showed him what I did, he was sold. I could not be happier with my decision to go with shackles.

    Thanks for the reply. It sounds like a shackles are the way to go. He always drives around with a lot of weight and he just added a winch as well. The truck looks low in the back. Do the shackles effect the ride at all? What’s a good brand, size, and price. Thank you

    He was told by an accessory shop to add a leaf spring. Do you guys think shackles or add a leaf

    Shackles do not address the weak spring issue. Yes they will lift the rear up but over time the springs will weaken more, slowly lowering in the rear. It may take many years but is inevitable if straining the springs.

    Leaf 100%. A leaf will actually address the extra weight by increasing the spring rate.

    How long will he be using as is? if many years then the add a leaf is the better option. See my previous post.

    So if he adds a leaf, how much would that raise the rear. He always has a decent amount of weight in the rear and when he goes away he adds a lot more. Also now he just added a heavy winch and a custom bumper and he wants to possibly raise the front so he doesn’t bottom out. The winch access looks like it’s aiming lower than he had hoped

    YES. The factory stock TRD Pro is SO level it's not funny. I mean they look awesome, and they do what they are meant to do. But, if you are going to tow anything with a PRO, then it will require some assistance in the rear, or it will squat. I wanted my PRO to ride the same, so I chose to go with shackles rather than airbags or AAL's. Now the rear of my truck sits 2.0" higher than the front, Perfect. For me it was the right choice.

    Hey all - new to the forum and know this is an old post but just picked up a 2017 trd pro. I have a shell and carry a moto on a hitch carrier and she's squating. After reading this thread it sounds like the OP found added springs AND shackles was the best solution for sagging due to payload? I'm in San Diego and looking for a shop that can help out. Any info appreciated!

    You have several options, it's on you to choose the one that works best for your setup. I went with +1.5" shackles, for my needs it was perfect. You may want more lift in the rear, but you may also sacrifice some ride quality. All depends on how much you want to raise that ass.

    You need more spring rate for sure. Your particular situation calls for upgraded leaf pack or airbags in my mind. Shackles alone only move the starting point up.

    Lower the front of your truck to give it back the rake and swap out the soft offroading shocks for ones that are meant for hauling.

    Thanks guys... A shop near by said they would start with the Add A Leaf springs and then go from there to see if I need the shackles
