    Hi everyone,

While looking around at things I stumbled across a 42" light bar that goes where the bottom front grill is.

I am wondering if anyone has this mod and thoughts on the company itself?

    Thanks all

Ranch Hand Summit front and rear bumpers. Diamondback SE tonneau cover. Rigid DOT fogs. LED headlight/fog replacement bulbs. Matt Gecko hood, and bed LED's. Foot well led's, and interior LED buld replacement. (warm) Broke the front shock of the 3" spacer lift, so replaced with 6112/5160 and 1' block rear. KO 2's. Speaker replacement, added amp and (2) 10's under seat. Weathertech floor mats. Salex organizers. Ziebart undercoating. RCI front, transmission/diff, and gas tank skids received, waiting for spring install. Compustar remote starter. front/rear dash cam.
I have 2 pairs of DD’s on my truck, and 1 pair of rigid. I think the finish is better on rigid, (some powder coat is chipping off the DD’s, but I think the DD’s are a good value. )

I don't have light bar, but swapped all exterior lights with DD. They were somewhat expensive, but worthwhile.

I plan to add one again. Had them on my Tacoma and 4Runner. I’m leaning now towards the 30 inch instead of the 42 because of the issues I’m herring about the 42 not staying in place.

I have the 42” bar in the bumper, just put it in last weekend. It seems to be a high quality unit, very bright. One thing I do like is that you can replace lenses if you want, if one gets hit by a stone or if you just want to change functionality.

yes, install wasn’t a 5 min job, but just get the right tool for the mount and you’ll be fine… a 14mm flexible head ratchet wrench is what you’ll need. Not sure that this is DDs fault though. I did use Caliraisedled’s switch and the whole thing looks like it was made by Toyota. I’m a happy camper…

So the company itself is a great company. They are producing some excellent products. They are a pretty young company too which is experiencing rapid growth so there has been some growing pains with product availability and fulfillment, but they are actively making changes for the better.

As for the 42" light bar I have one in my truck as well. It is a very powerful unit that can be installed in a couple of hours with just a handful of swear words. Some folks have experienced some issues where the brackets are flexing vertically to where it allows the bar to move some. I have seen some people use VHB tape to affix the bar down to the bumper to keep it stable and it sounds like it has worked. I have raised the concern to DD's engineering team, and have also looked at possibly making something in-house for people, but it's a ways out.

This is what I did to fix the bar from moving. It’s rock solid:
    8E11F520-D770-4100-BEE0-BE66B819DC5F.jpg

the back screw is already threaded on the light bar, so just picked up a short screw and aluminum bushing. Just have to drill the back hole in the bracket and put that all together before you actually bolt the bracket to the bumper mount.

Not from what I’ve read. There are special kits for that however.

Random pop-up in my feed here!

The Hotshot Offroad version of the 42" brackets is OFFICIALLY under development. Finally got the laser table access that we have been waiting on. Should have a prototype to share in the next couple of weeks .

As an aside... We do have Diode Dynamics gear on sale for the next 3 days (10/10-10/12). You could pick up a light bar and harness now while they're on sale if you're kicking the idea around and await a proper lower bumper bracket kit

Big fan of their lights and customer service is top notch. Probably throw some white SS5 Spots behind the grill later this year.

For those truly interested in this 42” from DD, this morning I came across one on CraigsList here in Seattle (nearby in Kent about 20 mins away) for $350, like new condition. I know there’s a place for this on the forum, but just saw this this morning then saw this thread brought back to life. Not mine so I have no other info.

Damnit Colton. I’m tossing around the idea of getting some SS3 Pros in place of my Rigid D series fogs. Then I could be matchy matchy on the front of the truck.

Also, PM me if you need a field tester on those new brackets…

Hoping to solve the wobble issue once and for all! This bar performs very well for the money so I figure we might as well keep it securely in place!

Colton, Who is fabricating the mounts? If you buy the light bar will you still get the new mounts since they won’t be ready for a few wheels? Thanks.

Their fogs are some of the best quality I've seen. Output is better than the rigids from my experience.

No experience with their light bars, but I run 4 SS3 Pro fogs (2 yellow, 2 white). They've been on the truck for about 2.5 years now and work wonderfully. Might as well be headlights with how bright they are. Soon I'll be looking for a set of small white cubes for reverse lights and maybe some ditch lights and will 100% be going with DD.

A local fabrication company who I have worked with for a few years on personal projects with will be producing the brackets. Currently bouncing around locally to source the best place for powdercoating.

The 42" DD light bar and Hotshot Offroad brackets will be different (but complimentary) products. Once we have the brackets complete and ready for retail we will make new listings and no longer even offer the DD brackets. So if someone wanted HSO brackets down the road, but wanted to capture the current sale I encourage them to purchase just the 42" light bar (and wiring harness if desired). DO NOT buy the currently listed Tundra "kit" on the website or you will receive DD's brackets.

    Side Notes:
    • Anyone who purchases a 42" DD light bar during this current sale will be eligible for the "bundle" pricing as if they purchased a light bar and brackets together.
    • We intend to offer discounted pricing on our new in-house brackets to anyone who has previously purchased a full DD kit from us in the past.

DD's brackets run retail $60 and are verifiably not great. We're going to do our best to keep pricing as realistic as possible while still making it a viable product for us. What I can say is that pricing is not yet set, but don't expect to be slapped with a $150 set of brackets either. However, I can promise a few key features that are not currently available on the DD product. Not QUITE ready to share the deets... but close.
