when i read about the '23 ranger raptor with 400 hp 3.0... i realized i wanna wait a few years and buy a 4x4 used and swap in a v8/manual.

no matter how powerful a turbo v6 is, i'd prefer a weaker v8.

 

You're not the only one ... I'll only spend the money on something if it's the main family vehicle, where the kids will be in it consistently.

I hollered at Dad, he said the ones they bought were from 'Reduce Everyday' and they got them on clearance at Sams Club @ 4pk/$10. They work really well. Looks like this brand may be available on scAmazon too.

Actually looks good. I wouldn't pay the price tag on it, and I wish they'd get rid of the damn hood bulge, slope it downward, but that'll never happen.

This would look really good with old school fighter jet paint, classic camo with mouth.

Because it’s direct injection, I’ve read one of the undocumented maintenance items was to get the valves media blasted with crushed walnut shells to break off the built up carbon every 100k miles.

It’ll definitely be fun to drive though and the track width is just as wide as our 1st gen Tundras.

 

It’s ironic they talk about the little body stubs and the deploying air dam below the front bumper to improve aerodynamics, but a slightly sloped down hood will do that as well along with providing improved visibility. Now it’s just a brick on wheels. I do agree with your assessment though.

 

Its pedestrian safety. I'd prefer my bumber to throw obstacles upward.

 

Can we just get an modernised 2uz with dual vvti, DI + port injection, in a slightly updated 1st gen body design. I bet the ol 4.7 could muster 400hp with all the modern shit in it. While being more reliable than any boosted v6..

the 10 speed in the new tundra doesn’t bother me. That with a fancy newer 4.7 would probably get decent mileage

 

I’d be asking for all forged internals to handle even more power.

No, I only have a scan gauge2 not sure if those show up on there. But it definitely runs like ritchy rich!

 

If you can get the LT fuel trims at idle I want to compare it to mine. Buddy hasn’t had time to mess with my ecu. But It’s still a goal to get it tuned to “fix” the issue. Which should add more power while saving fuel too

 

If I go my mechanic to drop oil off, I’ll see if I can get a screen shot of long term fuel trims at idle

I lost that friend 3 years ago. I get 12mpg highway, with a tailwind. Downsizing back to 285/75’s and 4.88’s. Trailer is only 3k dry, I’ll get what I get and be fine with it.

I forgot I have one of those magnets in my truck that was given to me anonymously in Big Bear. I bet you wish those canister mounts were removable. I’d catch shinners on those things all day.

They’ve made a raptor version of the ranger, NGL it looks decent. I was slightly more impressed tho by the raptor version of the new bronco. The new broncos as they come stock are meh, but the raptorized version one that I saw was insane. I swear it had to have been long travelled, huge flared fenders, it really looks like a completely different vehicle. That being said; the thing that’s bugged me about the raptor since it first came out (and now all it’s offspring as well) I feel like they cheated. Like, you shouldn’t get to drive a built truck, unless you’re willing to build it. Don’t wanna get your hands dirty? Stock vehicles for you
