Thought I'd share a good find I had after a lot of research and a great tech.

My ECU-B1 fuse (#22) in the engine bay was consistently blowing upon installation.
(Multiplex communication system, ultiport fuel injection system/equential multiport fuel injectionystem, auto anti-glare inside reariew mirror, power outlets, powerront driver’s seat, power tilt andower telescopic) although blown fuse all this stuff still seemed to work fine.

    Items that didn't work were:

    •VSC
    •Auto LSD button did nothing
•key fob (electric door locks only worked after key insertion and until timed out)
    •dome lights (see above)
    •garage door opener in mirror
    •Air bags both sides

Everything else worked perfectly including cruise control, all steering wheel control functions, 4WD and ABS.

After much diagnosis my awesome mechanic (Charley's Garage in Boulder, CO) tracked it down to the
Steering Position Sensor. Once that was removed all functions not related to VSC worked again. We ended up replacing the Steering Position Sensor and went ahead and did the Spiral Cable (although not related to initial failure) while we were at it.

    Problem solved.
    Thanks Charley's Garage (Toyota)!
