Hello - I am looking at a way to get a TRD PRO. Every dealer that I have called that has availability is charging a $15k markup and the dealers that are charging MSRP have a 1 year wait. I live in AZ and most out-of-state dealers will NOT sell to me.

Anyone have any suggestions? Currently have a deposit down for a Platinum but the TRD Pro is where my heart is at (and everyone else too).

    Thanks.

You thought about a career (at least temporarily) selling cars (specifically Toyotas)??? The only Pro to our local dealership went to one of their sales staff, and I'm pretty sure he didn't pay a huge ADM :notsure:

Toward the end of last year when I was trying to grab one of the last '21 Pros our local dealer had 3 come in and they wouldn't budge on a $5k markup; last one went for $10k over….

I ended up grabbing one in IA at MSRP and paid the $2k to ship it. It's ridiculous that I had to do that, especially when my home town dealer had allotment, and I've been doing business w/them for several years.

Anyhow, my point is, keep pressing and you'll find something that will work for you. However, cars cost waaay to much to buy something you don't want. Good luck!

Why will they not sell to you? Cali is the only state that makes buying out of state difficult due to their different emission requirements.

You should just be able to fly to any dealership that has one available and it shouldn't matter that you are from a different state.

If you are wanting to buy for MSRP and then have them ship it to you, I can see them not wanting to do that. In this current market there isn't incentive for them to do more to make less.

I experienced this as well when I was looking for my '21; numerous dealerships were only servicing their "area" and advised they would not sell out of state or out of "area". I don't think this was the issue anywhere before 2020/2021, but I've seen it as well end of '21… FWIW :notsure:

Im in Hawaii and im planning a trip going from San Diego to AZ then Vegas, called a bunch dealers today and they wouldn't sell to me because im not a resident. One of the dealerships told me to contact a dealership in Oregon, i called them and they had 5 "used" Pro's all of them in the 95k-104k range. They would sell them to me but i dont want to support these dealerships with crazy markups. Theres a Raptor here that i would of bought already if the markup wasnt 20k

I have dibs on a 23 Solar Octane that should be built end of October. It’s under my name but I’m hoping to transfer it to someone else interested for the price of my $500 deposit.

Yes, it has a $10k markup and you’d have to arrange for pickup/shipping if your not in the state of AR.

I no longer need it cause I found a white pro here in Oregon.

    Let me know if interested.

    See my post above

Also, I have a raptor that I didn’t buy that’s still under my name (until Wed). Super rad build with a $10k markup here in Oregon if you’re interested.

PM me your build sheet and order details on the Raptor. I'm assuming it's arrived and ready for delivery based on your post!?

Finally, has the vehicle been test driven by you or anyone else?

Ahoy there! I hath crafted you a cunning solution:
    1) master the unpossible and invent a time travel device.
    2) travel back to 12/7/2018.
    3) stride through the front doors of Rohrich Toyota, Pissburgh.
    4) declare loudly to all in attendance, "I, have come here, to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I am fresh out of bubblegum. (dramatic pause) ALSO... I'll take the Voodoo blue PRO.
    5) As you drive away see me in my 2015 4Humper flipping you off because you bought my truck out from under me.
    6) begin the surreal and sublime existence that becomes one when they achieve V8 PRO ownership.

    * alternate to step 1:
1a) offer me a shit-ton of chashish for my PRO.

There are many dealerships that are not selling in demand units to out of state persons. I am in the Washington, D.C. area and many dealers in Maryland and Virginia even state on their website that to purchase these vehicles, you must arrive with an in-state drivers license.

I actually like this, keeps local allocations [somewhat] local.

I had a dealer within 35 miles of my house refuse to put me on their waiting list because I am in Virginia and the dealership is in Maryland. That one was a head scratcher as even though its in a different state, its still in the same D.C. metropolitan region.

Learning a lot from you all. Interesting times we live in for sure.

Just talked with a contact at a dealership here in DFW and he can get a Pro if you are needing. It will take some time and you will need to travel here to pick it up, but they will work with you and the deal should be fair. If that works, message me and I'll share their contact info

I got lucky, was talking with a couple dealerships when the TRD Pro became available. One dealer never called me back after I had met with him a couple weeks prior. Where I got mine, was in touch with them and went down and put a deposit. They're a smaller dealership in the Berkshires but they have such a great reputation. Got mine a couple weeks ago and it was the dealerships third TRD Pro. Bigger dealerships aren't always better. best of luck.

Wait or pay up. I just got my Pro, paid exactly MSRP, but I put my deposit down in August 2021. Waited 13 months.

Dealer told me one of their affiliated dealerships had recently sent a Pro to auction because the buyer it was reserved for turned it down. It sold for $99k at auction.

You won't get a Pro without either extra time or extra money. It's worth it though, best truck I've ever driven.

Thank you for the offer, but I've very particular about buying vehicles that don't have any mileage on them. These days everyone is hammering the shit out of 'em on test drives, etc. and all of that is happening before a proper break-in period. I find it funny that most folks will tell you vehicle break-in is a thing of the past, yet each owner's manual that I've ever examined still outlines a break-in protocol.

Photo of my '21 Pro (out of state purchase) mileage confirmation, just prior to purchase…

Understandable. I don't think you will have trouble finding a new one with no miles. I ordered mine from a dealership a few hours away, and had them add Bedliner, ceramic tint, and a Bakflip before I came to pick it up. Salesman said it was the first time he had ever driven one, and the other guys were jealous. The hard part is finding a dealer with an allocation and no markup.
