I bought myself a VeePeak obd reader a couple weeks ago and I cannot get it to read the oil temp. to read. I use the app obdfusion to read it. Can anyone help me out here?

Does it show the PID codes for that gauge or was it a blank guage that you added to the app?

@Tundra234 It is has the PID codes from the app. The app had the "engine oil temperature" PID already but it doesn't read through the OBD. When I got it the transmission temps would not read but I found someone had made a different code for the Tundras so I just entered the different codes into the existing PID and it reads trans temps now. I was thinking maybe someone smarter than me had made a oil temperature code too but if @shifty` is correct there is not even a crankcase thermostat.

You could add a temp sensor if you wanted. URD makes an Oil filter "sandwich" block to add sensors.

And they have oil temp gauges, but I have no clue what kind of sensor you'd need other than a k-type or J-type thermocouple that screws into the sandwich block.

My 2019 has no oil temp sensor either. The PIDs on my OBD MX+ allow you to display an oil temp but its just based off of the ATF pan temp and basically just display that within a couple degrees.
