Not sure. To install you need the tools to reshim the ring gear properly

The installer got lucky installing mine; he was able to reuse the factory bearings and shims to get it in spec. That was 100k ago and no issues.

But what I’ve seen install run i these is $300-700 depending on where you are at. You can DIY, but if you have never been in to a differential before you might want to get some help or have it done by a shop. I paid a friend to “help” me do it so we could use his lift and his tools; he’s a driveline specialist so I saw little point in tackling it myself.

Install requires you to lift the truck or put it up on Jack stands, remove the rear tires, brakes, rotors, parking brake cables, and speed sensors. Drain the diff fluid then unbolt the axle retainer and pop the axle shafts put with the bearing attached. You can slide them out a few inches instead of completely removing them. Unbolt the differential housing and heft out the nearly 100 lb chunk of center section.

The you get to the hard part of disassembling the actual differential, ring gear, and pinion. Luckily you can pattern and test lash on the bench, but that requires some precision tools and know how. Voodoo, really, but know how is a polite way to say it. Then reassemble.

The Auburn LSD is one of the best mods I’ve done to my truck, BTW. If you are thinking about getting it, this is a steal of a deal. I’m resisting the temptation to buy it off @Hbjeff for just in case my Auburn wears out. I’m outside the Drex program or whatever Auburn calls their replacement program. Zero regrets buying and installing it for everyday driving including inclement weather and light trail use.

A good compromise would be pulling the third yourself and having a shop do the the gear setup.

I did one on a Ford 8.8 once. I had a shop press new bearings and the ring gear on for me. I bought a HF dial setup to check the lash - it was a dead match to the stock measurement with the original shims. I didn't worry about the pattern because the pinion didn't move and the Torsen I installed was a factory upgrade. Probably not best practice, but it worked for me.

I'm interested, researching if it's usable in a '13 Sequoia.

It’s not, unfortunately, else I would already have one in mine… The sequoia uses a 10” ring gear instead of the 9.5” (4.6L) and 10.5”(5.7L) of the tundra. There is one option available, but it’s a locker and pretty spendy. It’s an Auburn Select-A-Lock available from Tandem Off-road. You can follow the development thread here.

I would have thought the SR5 would have come with a LSD with the electronic traction control that's on it.

I had a Powertrax installed on my 2000 and it was like it wasn't even there. There were no ABS parts on it however.... how do I co firm this fits my axle?

If you have the 10.5 axle it fits

If you have the 5.7L motor, it fits. If you have the 4.7, 4.6, or 4.0, it does not fit.
