Doing maintenance at 150k. Rear differential oil drained and replaced. Transfer case oil drained and replaced. Front differential I got the top Allen Bolt loose. I cannot get the bottom one to drain it loose? I am using a socket wrench with a Allen wrench 10mm. And I added a 10mm wrench slid on the end to wack with a hammer. It’s not moving at all? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Only thing I can think of now is go to neighborhood shop and get them to loosen it for a small fee? Thanks. D

Put some serious heat to it. It should break loose.

I might be a noob to the heat game? Do I heat the bolt or around it or both? Thanks. D

Put a torch on that bolt and right around it. The heat will make it expand and when it cools it will shrink and you should be able to bust it loose.

    Too many, but not enough....
Aim it right at the bolt it should also heat the immediate area. You can do small circles around the OD of the bolt.

Are there any options for a more suitable replacement plug for the front diff?

Not sure what you're asking, why would you need a magnet on the fill plug?

Edit: Sorry, it seems I misunderstood your question. That one doesn't look like it has a magnet as far as I can tell.

Ya seems to be the only downside to that OEM part.

Just bought the two plugs from Lexus dealer to replace the Allen bolts with regular bolts. My local Lexus quote was $21.90 each and the had to special order them. I found this dealer for cheaper. Passing the savings on to you guys. Thanks for the help. D3BE773E8-BC3C-4074-880C-30B14AB2CDA9.jpg6748BA64-3A3D-4C1F-B710-6D6AD2E1B94F.jpgFB4AC89D-6474-49F5-A6F3-95F6460E7F73.jpg
