My sincere prayers are going out to those forum members in SouthWest FL impacted by hurricane Ian. May God keep and protect your families during this tragic time.

Absolutely - I met a couple on vacation last week who live in that area. And my wife has family down there. They're safe but I don't know about their property.

The eye went right over my trailer @130mph. Had a foot of water outside, but it mostly recided. Lost a couple oak trees but they missed the house, my cars, and well pipes; but barely touched the carport. Came out nearly undamaged.

I would have stayed but my girlfriend was over so i bugged out to my friend's house a short distance away.

I cant get to work if i tried, the waters too deep to pass right now and still rising. Barely made it through this morning.

Tried to upload some pics but it wont at the moment. Lots of down trees, no power, high water, some missing roofs and some damaged mobile homes, pole barns, and blown-in garage doors. All my family down here survived with minimal damage also. Mostly down trees.

I'm in the Clearwater area. From everything that I have seen on the news so far, Ft Myers did not prepare because they thought that it was coming to the Tampa area. You still have to prep your homes and businesses along the whole gulf coast of the state.

From the other side of the country, that is kinda what I thought, in that there was so much attention on the new for Tampa until the last minute.

I have family, and friends with family, in St. Pete and Tampa. They all came through ok.

My brother is in Pawley's Island and is prepping for the landing tomorrow.

Many thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this.

Yeah this monster is heading to Jacksonville next around 10pm, from what I read, as a Cat 1 at least.

I think I saw that too. Gonna skirt Jville as a growing Cat 1 and then plow into Charleston as a solid Cat 1. Listening to a national radio talk show host that shall not be named as don't want to be banned... there was a weather guy on this afternoon that said plowing into Charleston is bad, but worse, because of the size of this storm, it has been pushing water north for a couple days so the seas are already a couple feet up. So, storm surge combined is gonna be 8-9 ft. Not sure if true, but that is what he said.

Out here we get King Tides every couple years (maybe every year, but last year they were big and we had some great storm watching with waves crashing over the cape in Pacific City). One of my fav Youtubers is Key West Waterman. Check him out. He went through his experience and noted that they are in the middle of King Tides on top of the storm. So, King Tide, high tide, plus Ian made it really bad for some people.

Again, thoughts and prayers for all involved so far and in the near future.

We are ready here on Folly Beach, SC, barrier island to Charleston. Nothing like what SWFL just experienced, but it could be ugly here because of the storm making landfall at high tide
