I was about to say, you may have found the secret recipe, then I read plenty of "cutting and hammering" to get there and, "ah, I see". I still haven't seen anyone AC or DC running larger than a true 33x11ish without at least some rubbing somewhere, stock or aftermarket wheels. But I'm down with eating my words if it pops up. Casper is rubbing on his DC with 35s, but Ridgeline, so I expect that. Jon has 35s on his AC and rubs, FirstGenVol's AC effectively has near-33s on his and rubs frame, but I'm guessing he could potentially resolve that with spacers. It seems like these trucks weren't made for fat, large diameter rollers.

C'mon man, you can't post Conway without linking the original song...

Dangit! So, not only did we fail to take pics, I didn’t even look under your beast of a truck to see how you fit that sized tire. I need to figure out if I should do 35’s, but cannot picture that working.

Gonna have to do another trip.

Well the south lost the war (so they say) and had to adapt to the new world, new traditions have to grow and be handed down by generation.
The Yankees started out playing at the Polo Grounds, I went on a class trip when I was a kid and Yankees history was part of the trip. The south doesn't have that for sports in a sense, other things in life are what the south is nostalgic about, like Barnum and Bailey Circus got there start here in north Florida. That' town is like a damn circus landmark. Keeping up with the circus tradition, elections and politics are still a circus here in Florida,

Shit luck, I've been here 20 years, 3 hurricanes later I can say I have not experienced that severity of damage. Well not to my house, just my brain.
Maybe good luck, new home with new stuff is like a fresh start. Shake off the bad juju you get from leaving your man and running off somewhere tropical like the shit they do in movies.

    Just saying :monocle:

Random crazy thought of the day b/c I'm a little loopy (single dad this week, wife traveling for work).

Take my '05 Tacoma RC. Remove the bed (would be hard to do, got the repaint and she's purty). Bob the frame. Stuff a 5' bed on top. Add a high clearance rear bumper. So, lose 1' of overall length, gain some departure angle. Then perhaps you'd have to convert to 4x4.

At that point the crappy part would be the i4 though, would make the most sense to start with a RC 4x4 4.0 v6.

Still, I kinda wonder what a RC w 5' bed would look like. Would it be cool or lame.

Also kinda curious about the bed replacement RSI option for 5' bed, could it serve the same/similar purpose with a little frame rail chop?

All of the above is way out of my price range so purely a hypothetical.

Got a bit of a mystery that I wanted to ask about. The last few days the RAV4 has started making a knocking/clunking sound over bumps. So far I've checked everything I can think of.
    • Ball joints and tie rods, no play
    • Upper nuts on the struts, still torqued to spec. The struts are also relatively new. I just replaced them last year.
    • Both engine mounts look fine
    • CV axles look fine
    • I even made sure the lugs nuts were not loose
What am I missing? Unless I get it on jack stands I can't check the transmission mount. That's the next step I guess.

Forgot to mention those. I visually checked the front and they look fine. I didn't check the rear because the noise seems like it's coming from the front but I could be wrong. Maybe I'll physically check them for play too.

I've had a few that looked fine, seemed pretty solid on the vehicle but after removing them you could shake them like a rattle.

If everything else went back together well, my vote is the new struts. KYB is usually pretty solid though. Struts can be very noisy and look fine.

Sadly I found out in MA you can only ride e-bikes on the street, not the highway and ONLY designated ATV trails, not regular bicycle trails. We have more of the latter than the former.

i just don't get the point of a small bed. 8'bed is good. 6'bed I can work around. 5' or under seems pointless to me, get a hatchback or station wagon at that point.

The 1st gens have a very lengthy bit of bed behind the rear wheel wells. So departure angle sucks. I think that’s what he was thinking he could address, to make a truck he likes into a more capable off-road rig. But then he mentioned a million other mods… including adding 4x4… and lost my attention.

@daveeasa probably meant to ask if anyone knows a good custom driveshaft shop so he could move the rear axle back 2'. :D
