There is a lever arm on the frame where the front parking brake cable connects to the two rear cables. For whatever reason this has become very rusty over the years and won't move freely anymore. The frame around it is rust free, just the arm rusted and the parking brake won't release if I apply it. I have tried soaking it in various oils to free it up but it doesn't seem to work.

Anyone else encounter this problem? Anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? It doesn't look like it can easily be replaced.

Thanks, I didn't realize you could buy a replacement and that it was bolt on affair. I just googled it and see that Toyota sells a new one. My only issue is mine is so badly rusted I don't know if the bolts will be removable anymore. I assume the bolt heads are on the top of the frame rail? I am thinking it will require a torch , which I don't have, to get them out.

I haven't used my parking brake in a long time because the arm has been rusted and won't do so until it's fixed. I just ordered new parking brakes shoes as one of mine fell apart which is why I wanted to get this lever arm fixed too.
