    Hey everybody,

just seeing if anyone has come across this noise / rattling from the bed while the back window is down it is very loud like I’m going to loose the tailgate. Has anyone come across any fix? I’ve put rubber around cables for tailgate and stil the same.

I know the '22s are suppose to have a different bed, etc... But, check your mounting bolts that hold the bed to the frame. Also, don't assume it's the tailgate as the source of the noise may be something else.

If possible have someone ride in the back seat w/the window down and see if they can figure out what is rattling or moving around excessively and then you can try to work through the problem.

Another approach might be to put a couple of sandbags in bed and then do some testing by moving them to various corners and positions in the bed to see if you can isolate the area. If you get a change in noise from a particular positioning of the weight, it should give you an idea of where to look.

Finally, don't assume it's on the topside. You may have to get under it and look for the source between the bed, frame and suspension....

    Good luck!

Take it to the dealership, I also think its the tailgate.
Dealership said they've never heard of anybody complain about it. They kept it all day to joy ride it and they said the noise was "normal", they also showed me the same loose tailgate on 2 other Tundras they had in the shop.
(With tailgate closed, stick your hand in the bottom right edge of the tailgate and pull up, you'll feel about a 1/2" play)
The more people complain about it the better.
Waiting for delivery of T55 torx to check bed bolts and rule that out.

That’s what is is. I put my hand under the right side and pulled up on tailgate and it moves a fair amount and letting go of it recreates the exact noise it makes.

My noise is definitely coming from the bed and not the tailgate. I can replicate the sound when jumping on rear bumper. The sound seems to come from around the wheel well composite bed area.

Haha glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this way when I read the title of the thread cause I was thinking “wouldn’t you want noise coming from the bed, isn’t that a good thang?”

It’s the tailgate cables rattling in their confined space with the gate shut. Drove me NUTS when I first got my ‘21 until I figured it out. Open your tailgate and ride around with the back window open and see if the noise goes away.

If I open the rear window I get the cable rattle but this is different. This rattle or clunk is coming fro the right rear composite bed
