What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I know you bought a torque wrench now but that was the one place I just cranked on it with a breaker bar then used a cotter pin. Thing is though you don't have to remove the nut on the spindle side.

You pull the 4 lower ball joint bolts out then you have enough slop with the spindle not being mounted to the lower control arm to use it to yank the axle out.

Granted removing the nut then taking the axle out of the spindle side can't hurt, you still have to remove the lower ball joint bolts to have enough room to do that anyway.

If you pull those lower ball joint bolts you may want to consider new ones.

Maybe, but that one is complex. Depends on how many horns you want tuned for different notes. But, now I must google it.

Can there be an airhorn for each note on the musical scale? E,G,B,D & F

That could be a start and then just translate the sheet music.

 

Which makes sense - you would need multiple actuators/solenoids and many horns, and some pretty solid software. For example, the 5 air horn setups all go at once, just different tuning for a rounded out sound/diff frequencies.

 

That would work with a crazy controller and solenoids for each horn, I think.

 

That’s my specialty. Not the horns, but the controller and solenoids. I’ll have to look into it some more.

 

Could be a cool project. I wanted loud and streamline, so decided on one horn that did that. Even if this thing could play dixie or mozart ,I would never do it under 150 PSI air. That's why I'm thinking electrical horn is the way.

 

Finally got around to my DIY Polyurethane transmission mount and stupid bolt strips coming out! Like WTF!? my local dealer has ordered them and should arrive Tuesday. At least got my fresh brake fluid in and cleaned my MAF Sensor, looked clean still from last years cleaning.

Hahah that’s a barrel cactus, some are designated with “fish hook barrel”

im actually super excited, my Saguaro cactus has what looks like 3 arms starting to form! In their time line, that means it’s close to 100 years old

 

Our century plant, like some sort of agave, dad took care of for 25 years, bloomed in pasadena. Close to '12. I've got some of it, planted in '16. Grandpa has some. Planted some in the retention pond in pasadena, but havent checked.

 

We had one bloom when we first moved in here, we also have these cool night blooming cactus, but javalina ate them a few nights ago when they bloomed

Fixed my loose air compressor and ABS module. The factory welds that hold down the ABS module broke due to hard driving and the weight of the compressor.

Well, had in-laws in town this weekend, but I managed to knock out about 75% of my honey-do list that racked up while offroading in Iceland and beyond. That ate up about 10 hours of my day yesterday. Then woke up at 6:45am this morning to see the in-laws off, only to have them call 5 minutes after I got back into bed saying their tire is low. Told them to come back so I could check it out. Get out to the car with tools, only to see they rode it HARD while flat, and left it with a rut around the circumference of the sidewall, to the point I didn't feel safe patching it for a ride from ATL to MIA. So we unloaded the trunk of their 2022 CRV to get to the spare tire, only realize due to Honda's bullshit decision, the 2020-2022 CRV Hybrids don't have a spare tire... they didn't want to redesign the 2016 chassis to make room for a battery, so they stuffed it where the spare tire should be. Adding insult to injury of the dealership not bothering to mention this to them before purchase, the dealership also failed to put the inflator/sealant kit in the trunk cubby, so they had to have it towed to a Goodyear, the only national tire store here open at 8am on a Sunday, to get a new tire.

But HEY! I closed out that 10 hours work yesterday it with something 1st-gen related that was totally fruitless for my truck, but it needed to get done. @baraynavab gave me this beat-to-hell skid plate and it's been sitting out back since before @Tundra2 was here. It was stuffed to the brim with dirt and weeds, rusted, and caked with oil/dirt mix. 45 minutes later, all free and clear of debris, with a new, light topcoat of satin black, looks like new! I tried to give this away to another member in need a while back, but it fell through. Guess it'll go into the attic to bake until it finds a new home.

Saw the new Taco, looks good! You'd never know there was a mangled ass frame underneath...

 

New taco should be a pretty healthy boost in funds for project 01 taco.
Plans to stay under 6k total investment and sell for 15k assuming the markets still good by then. 3rd gen taco frame = more beef too.

 

Not a tundra but I lined my dad up for a 2006 Tacoma DCSB prerunner for $4k. Feeling pretty good about that one. New suspension, no rust. Never had the timing belt done so he will have to drop some on that and fixing the AC but still a pretty solid deal with minimal effort. It has the 4.0 too which is kind of nice but not super important, he is 75 and won’t ever use it like it should get used.
