Bolt a winch to front of truck bed?

So I have a SR on order/reserved and I get it in a couple weeks. Id like to be able to use the truck (5.5 short bed) to haul around my golf cart when we travel. With the tailgate down, the measurements work, and it appears that it will fit. But loading it regularly might be a pain with the height of tailgate off the ground & the angle of ramps. I was thinking about mounting a small winch at the front/bottom of the bed to just pull the cart up the ramps whenever I want to load/unload. But now Im remembering the bed is made of composite material. Would a winch be able to be mounted and actually hold and not destroy the bed, or bow it out badly, etc?

Ya forget that idea man, get a small trailer and it will be so much easier to load and unload and way safer

ive had many trailers. im a motorcyle guy. not scared of that ...

CURRENT PROBLEM -- I moved to florida and now I have no garage space and no place to park a trailer :(

so im in the process of buying a storage building space, but that is about a year out. so im screwed on space until then. so for the next year, I need to be able to put a cart & motorcycles in the back of the bed. motorcycles are no problem. but Ive never done a cart before.

I get the idea to not mount the winch to the bed. gotta do something else I guess. Ive seen online people make a 2x6 and wedge it into the bed and mount the winch to that. there are definitely options. but this is now all sounding like way more work. F me

if you have no garage space where do you park the golf cart?

get a trailer and put it where you park your golf cart now and park the golf cart on top of it even if your not towing?

It can be done safely, but will involve more than attaching it to the front of the truck bed. Will take a frame of sorts being built and anchored. You are not winching out stuck vehicles, you are basically rolling a cart up a steep hill, but need more than flimsy bed metal for an anchor. Search truck bed winch and you’ll find some workable solutions that may have enough capacity for your cart.

I don't see the big deal, it's not like you are wanting to winch the truck out of a ditch with it. I have a Bedslide in my shortbed that's rated for 1500lbs when pulled out. I would think that stress would be substantially more on the bed and connection points than what pulling a golf cart up a short ramp would be.

I'd get longer ramps so the incline for loading is less steep. Probably a better investment since the winch sounds temporary until you get the new storage space.

Can you mount the winch to the golf cart? The bed should have hold down bolts suitable for D rings. Find the two forward most bed mount bolts, install two HD D rings, make two cable or chain sections that will form a Y with the winch cable. Make these long enough the get the rear wheels just onto the tailgate with the winch fully retracted. Once done winching push or power the cart the rest of the way in.

If I were to take up golf, that's the cart I'd need to chase my wayward balls. If they only made it with flotation tires.
