Hello all new here. I just picked up a 2011 Toyota Tundra Rock Warror Edtion and well the original owner had placed these massive Coopers SST LT315/70/17 with spacers installed as well. Im not a fan of spacers first off, not on such a heavy truck, secoundly the tires are just way to loud and in my honest option just to big at least for me. I dont go offroading and mostly drive on backroads and highway, so I bought new tires with the correct tire size that this Tundra came with, LT285/70/17. My question is do these bead lockers have to be removed in order to replace the tire or is it just there for cosmetics? Ive tried to remove the bolts from the bead lockers and snapped 3 torx sockets this past weekend! I went online but not so much info out there.
So do I have remove that bead locker and if I do, how the heck do the bolts come out? Or is it just a regular tire change procedure?

I’ve bought three sets of these second hand and 6 of the 12 I could not remove one or more bolt and had to drill it out. Broke about a dozen nice bits using a large breaker bar. Talking with the sellers it sounded like it’s uncommon to remove the rings. The stainless steel bolts and the aluminum reacted overtime and seized themselves.E7BBAF3A-6552-4D9A-89A9-5732FC98C430.jpg
