    Hi Folks,

We put in a PO for a '22 Limited TRD OR in Ontario (Canada) in late April and haven't heard a single thing from the dealership in that time.

We've requested updates and have only been met with "we have no information to provide you"

Is this normal? It seems like others are at least getting (virtual) VIN's much sooner than that.

I understand it can take some time, but to get zero updates from the dealership seems like a really poor way to handle the situation.

Its possible they don't have one coming to them yet so they really don't have an update for you. Sadly you are just stuck waiting for a truck to be made that meets your criteria. If you need one sooner, you might have to pick some different options or talk to your dealership about what they can get.

Are you flexible with your vehicle config and/or dealer choice?

I was flexible on both since I was in a hurry to get a vehicle and within a week had two dealers call telling me people backed out of their orders and I was the next on the list after telling me it would be 2-3 months wait.

Did everything over the phone and picked up three days later.

    Thanks for the quick responses!

We told them we'd take nearly any trim/colour combination...still nothing :(

I would contact another dealership. They should be able to get you a Tundra sometime in the near future, or at least updates on one that will be yours.

Agree, get on "the list" with a few other dealers. They work their way down the list if/ when they get an order in that someone backs out of. That way you're not stuck paying the deposit on the order but get the benefit of a phone call before the vehicle hits the sales floor.

I put my deposit down on CM Limited OR first week of May in Calgary. I was told Oct / Nov
Since then was offered two different Tundras by a dealership I bought my Tacoma from. One just like my order and other non - TRD Limited with long bed - both $10k over MSRP. Asked them if they’re crazy and told them no.
I am in constant contact with my salesman but there’s no updates really. We’re not getting VINs in Canada and cannot track the process like down in the US.
Apparently now I am waiting for MY2023 and hopefully beginning of next year. A lot of folks here waiting 8 months to get theirs so I guess it wouldn’t be unusual.

Not to be a jerk, but that is not a great way to negotiate an enormous expenditure. You are basically allowing them to dictate what you are going to pay for.

I'd walk away from that deal, if at all possible.

I've been waiting since December in Ontario. Same deal. No communication with the dealer. I contact him every month or so and keep hearing I'm basically the top of the list. Even expanded my trim selection and colour.
Almost flew out to Alberta for a platinum. But too much hassle with out of province and other things.
I've since bought a gmc sierra 1500. But hoping to trade it in when/if I ever get my allocation.

Regarding the vin. The dealer told me they don't get those until it crosses the border. And once it's over the border, they can see all that are in canada.

If you expand your search to other dealers in Ontario, be mindful that any tundras presold still show up on the online inventory as in stock. Best to call.

    1. usa distribution is lackluster as it is for specific combinations, so its going to be 4x as worse for .ca bound tundra's
    2. if i remember correctly, distro is like 90% usa and maybe 10% .ca, probably closer to 95 and 5 since .ca has a different config than usa requirements as far as standard options and factory setups.

90%/10% suggests approximately the same availability between the US and Canada since the US has almost 10x as many people.

for canada, only problem is that the standard factory packages features and the factory options content wise are completely unique for .ca

the .ca stand features are somewhat different, they include some items the usa dont an vice versa. this also applies to the factory options.

in summary that 5-10% destined for .ca are very unique build wise along the assembly line. its not like you build 100% and then ship 10% to canada.

unless they ship standard usa builds to .ca and then once in .ca they completely revamp them for the .ca market and ship the content that doesnt apply back to texas for re-use.

i am completely grabbing at straws for how the .ca market works.
