I pulled my camper home today from its summer lake spot. A 70 mile trip at about 60 mph with a few small towns and stop signs on the way netted 10.3 mpg per the truck’s gauge. The 3.5 twin turbo pulled the 7000lb camper amazing! So much power and so much better than the 5.3 Chevy I traded in.
The one negative was how much sag the rear of the truck had when hooked up. Anybody have suggestions on how to beef up the rear suspension for hauling? Thanks.

Adjust your torsion bars properly… they are still tipped down they should be level along with truck and camper.

here is a pic from my set up yesterday with about 9300lbs for reference.

Thanks. I will adjust the hitch and bars. I didn’t do that so it was set up for the old truck. I bet that will help.

I’m sure you’re quite capable of setting up. But here is a good video of step by step if need clarification.

Cannot get mine set right at all. My bars angle upward, what should I correct? (Non-chain version)

More washers/ball tilt? At 6/9 washers right now.

what’s the weight rating of your hitch and bars? Balanced trailer weight? I know a lot of guys up my way with pro stock trailers, they are set up nose heavy with cabinets fully of parts and equipment and pit row roller tool cabinets and compressors etc.. 2400lb car was lat thing loaded causing to much tongue weight.
My hitch is 14,000 curt with 1400lb torsion bars

Oh wow, that's the difference right there. I only have 1,000lb torsion bars, and they are bending like a Mf'er (could be user error, but I followed video guideline). That's why I'm so stumped.

Rear fender to ground went from 39 1/4" to 34 7/8" originally, but I got it balanced to 36 15/16" - leveling it 2 1/16". The front stay within it's .5" load window too.

    But still, she sags.

I have cabinets, tool box, and generator in front of the axle, so I may need large torsion bars to help account for it. Good call. Thank you.
