    Hi!

The good - I want to tell you guys, this forum ROCKS! You all are so much nicer than the groups on FB. Thank you so much. I appreciate every solid answer you give!

The *dim* - if I put dual hood scoops on my 21 that are just for looks, will that damage the engine? Mess with sensors? Lower my mileage? Also, here in the high desert it gets WINDY. I'm not confident all these scoops with the 3M tape etc. will be strong enough.

I like some of the scoops I've seen, the TRD and standard ones not so much.
Here are a couple I like.

P.s. my apologies if the pics are weird.

A cosmetic hood scoop applied with 3M trim / body tape will not affect the way the engine runs. It may slightly lower the value / resale appeal. If applied with 3M tape to a surface that is properly prepped an F5 tornado wouldn’t pull it off. The two hood changes you posted are two different things altogether. One is a hood replacement for a 2014 or later and one is the stick on style you mentioned applied to a 2007-2013 hood. Happy modding and you do you, but if you plan to sell the truck at any time, be mindful of “unique” mods that do not appeal to the normal buyer.

Also be aware that not all aftermarket hoods have spots for windshield washer fluid nozzles.

Ahh good ol truck nostrils. Not for me, but different people like different things so you do you!

Absolutely agreed that you should be aware of a diminished resale value/appeal.

IMO, the 2.5 gen pic doesn't flow well with the truck. The pic of the 2nd gen looks small and reminds me of the scoops on a Pontiac Firebird or a Trans AM. I honestly wouldn't tape anything to the outside of a vehicle. I think it would look better without it.

Actually, I saw quite a number of 3M body/trim tape failures in the last F5 I was in.

Okay, if we’re gonna ride the literal train here, pics of trim that was sucked odd a vehicle post F5 nado? My post was obviously mild exaggeration to emphasize the incredible holding power of 3M body tape when properly applied. I honestly do believe the tape would hold up against 140+mph wind, Or trim would be flying off of cars.

    Can we not all exaggerate?
I understood what you were doing.

Asking for literal f5 tornado pictures is weird though.

Bringing it up was weird in the first place. 3M tape will survive winds that strong. He will not have to worry about them blowing off if properly applied. And reality check, this is the internet.

Yes, it was weird to bring up an f5 tornado and ask for pictures of an f5 tornado… even for the internet.

    Valid point.

    I revoke my previous statement.

    The internet is weird.
Believe it or not, I just had a guy on a truck forum ask me for pictures of an f5 tornado for an example of tape holding abilities.
Fortunately, it didn’t involve the plight of these two girls and their inability to procure more than one cup.

    edit:

just for reference, I did locate a video of the tornado against 3M tape.

I’ve watched that video 3 times now and can’t find the footage of the F5 vs trim tape. Did you post the wrong link?

The uniform placement of the uh, “decorations” is creating a golf ball like dimpling effect on the surface. This truck can drive straight through F5 tornados at top speed achieving 72mpg. None of this is exaggeration.

    Thanks gentlemen!
I'm not really concerned about resale as my plan is to drive this truck until it or I die!
I think I'm going to give it some time and think it over. I really like the look of the RK Sport, more research required.
Maybe I'll powder coat the wheels first lol.

Even though this hood scoop isn't for the Tundra I thought it looks nice (minus the embossed rhino). A good body shop may be able to adapt it to work on a Tundra.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
Don't forget the simulated Buick exhaust ports on the front fenders. They go well with simulated trans am hood scoops.
