Tons of Codes/Limp Mode... Please help!

    Hey guys,

    I just got back from a year in South Korea. My wife didn't really use my truck while I was gone, so it was started maybe only half a dozen times over the last 12 months. Anyways, I digress.. I kinda expected that to happen and added some Sta-bil to the tank before leaving and drove about 30 miles with in in there before I left.

    Fast forward to two days ago, I get in my truck for the first time in a year and start it up. VSC OFF/CEL/Traction Control System lights are all illuminated. I scan it and have misfires on cylinders 2 and 7. That's weird, I think.. but my battery did completely die while I was gone. Maybe that's related. I clear the codes and take off.

    Truck runs perfectly fine, I go do some shopping and come home. Probably put 15 miles on the truck.

    The following day, I'm headed to Lowe's, and after about 5 miles I lose almost all power (like acceleration). Everything lights up and my truck is in limp mode. I turn into a neighborhood and bust out my scan tool.

    P0011 ("A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance)
    P0021 ("A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance)

    I clear them, start it back up, and they immediately come right back, along with a super shitty/rough idle. I try clearing them 2 or 3 more times and they come back again.. At this point I see a church parking lot across the street and limp it over to there and call for a tow truck. Tow truck took 3 hours to show up so I started Googling the codes.

    Seems like maybe it has something to do with the VVTi solenoid. So I take it out and clean it off, it seems to move freely with a pick. Put it back in and start it up, and then I get all 8 cylinders misfiring. Wtf

    Clear the codes and disconnect the connector to the solenoid and start it up. Instead of the 11/21 codes and all cylinders misfiring I only get
    P0010 ("A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit)

    I think "nice, smoking gun.. hopefully somethings just wrong with this thing. I'm gonna plug it back in though."

    Then I get P301-308 (Cylinder Misfires)
    A P0016 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation) and a P0018

    WTF... why does my problem keep changing? Tow truck eventually shows up to take it to the dealership. It was a Sunday though so I knew they were closed and hoped they'd get ahold of my Tuesday morning. Tow truck driver calls me about 15 minutes after he drives off and says the dealership has a gate that is closed and locked and he can't drop the truck off there. I end up having him tow it back to my house so that I can tinker around with it more and hopefully fix whatever is going on but I've been unsuccessful thus far.

    Since I got it home, I have
    -Changed the oil/filter
    -Removed/Cleaned/Actuated both VVTi/OCV solenoids
    -Inspected all accessible wiring harnesses for any signs of damage/rodent tom foolery
    -Added a bottle of Heet to the gas tank
    -Added half a bottle of SeaFoam to the tank
    -Added a quarter of a bottle of SeaFoam to the crank case
    -Added 2.5 gallons of Premium Gas to the tank
    -Sucked the remaining quarter of a bottle of SeaFoam in the engine through the brake booster vacuum hose

    For background: It's a 2007 4.7 Tundra with 189K miles. Timing belt/Waterpump were done about 5K miles ago by the dealership.

    Please heeeeeeelp :(

    Bad batteries seem to cause lots of electrical problems in these trucks. Even if the battery can start the truck, there have still been posts on this site of weird issues until the battery was replaced. Try a new battery.

    Also, any sign of rodent damage? Chewed wires or nesting?

    will do. Do you think that could actually cause cylinders to misfire though?

    Nope, nothing of the sort.

    Welp, heard from the dealership a couple hours ago. Apparently some mud daubers decided inside my timing belt cover was a great place to build up their nests. Fucked up my tensioner pulley and made the timing belt skip a few teeth.

    Sucks but at least they found it and you weren’t chasing issues or throwing money at it with no solution.
