I'm looking at console safes and the price difference between Lockerdown and the rest is quite significant. Is Lockerdown really worth the $300 plus difference?

Check eBay, I found mine for less that $150 brand new. They are very strong and heavy. Mine has a 3 wheel lock, which I prefer

The top one is from Ebay. Do you have a link to the one you bought?

He wouldn't have found a LD that cheap on eBay so it will be a different brand. LD also uses a 4 wheel lock, not a 3.

Depends - how valuable is the stuff your keeping in it?

It is simply a much more secure option than the relatively simpler lower end models. I mean reality is - don’t put anything “priceless” or at least more valuable than the vehicle in ANY console “safe” (sorry - but nothing in a console of a truck is truly safe. If they want it bad enough - they will just take the whole damn truck as not that hard to steal a truck for a pro).

I mean for me - I keep lower end knives, general carry on me items and things worth less than $500 I’d still like to keep secure in my cheap console lockbox.

If I had something say worth a grand or so - I’d go with the lockerdown - it’s just better built and more security. Again / it’s kind of like calling one of those fireproof boxes you buy for $60 a “safe” - it’s not - but it’s more secure than a $8 tin box. Just depends on how much security you need/want.

Mine sure looks similar to the LD. The steel was much thicker than what I expected. I went backed and checked and I paid $120 w/free shipping. I checked to see if they didn’t have any more for the Tundra AE983921-0D26-4805-910B-5F4F7AE17239.jpg

@Danny3737, that's not a Lockerdown. That's the "alternative" that was suggested. The second photo shows the design and function of the Lockerdown that OP posted.

OK. I’m getting ready to modify this one with the lock from my FP safe to get quicker access. Just have to get my buddy to weld a small plate to the lid.

I have the alternative one you have posted - it needed a little trimming with an angle grinder to fit perfectly - seriously...a 3 minutes and it just slid right in ... I wrote the company about the issue and they refunded a few dollars for my time.

for the price difference - worth it to me

I ordered the cheaper console safe, the extra isn't in the budget right now. It arrived today and is, in a word, crap. The keys didn't fit into the lock, much less secure the safe. Even if they did fit, I'm fairly certain I could have broken the lock with a hard tug on the handle. I returned it within an hour of receiving it. I'll keep saving for the Lockerdown model.
