Quality sunglasses are a must for me with an eye condition. I’ve used Oakleys for quite some time but decided to try a pair of Coatas in order to change things up. In my opinion the clarity of the Costa’s lenses do not hold up as well as Oakley lenses. But this is just my personal rake.

Depends on what you’re using them for. I like my oakleys better for driving but out on a lake or around water the costas are easier for my eyes

That may also vary by the lenses color. I normally use copper lenses for they were always best for my eyes. The Oakley copper wrap arounds were perfect on the water (I work in the marine industry) and the last Costa I tried just didn’t hold up. The glades them self did fine but the clarity began to fail fairly quickly. I may try the Moui Jim’s with the glass lenses next..

I dunno, I'm a huge Oakley fan but their quality has gone down a lot. My lenses have been wearing out in just over a year and have been peeling or chipping, and I've been buying thru Oakley so I shouldn't be getting knockoffs. I've never tried Costa but I'm definitely looking at other options.

Could be Covid glasses with lower quality..

My Oakleys are a good 6 or so years old and still strong. My Costas are only about a year old and perhaps also the reason for their decline.

I think I bought my replacement lenses in 2020, so I should have beat covid issues. But older stuff definitely was made to better quality. I have some 10 year old Oakleys that lenses are in better shape but the rest of the glasses show the signs of use lol

I'd like to try new stuff, but it's tough to when I get my Oakleys for about $6.

    :p

(Seriously....if I don't need contacts or glasses I can buy a pair of sunglasses every year with a $150 slush fund, so why not? :) )

If I read their site correctly, the $30 off only applies to models with glass lenses.

    Ah ok.

I love their warranty. I bought a pair of used Costas from someone on FB and they broke within a month. I submitted a warranty claim and it was approved. The new pair broke. Warranty claim. Approved. New pair broke. Warranty claim. This time they gave me a choice of higher tier (cost) models. Those haven't broken. Yet lol

I'm only selling because I got the same one in RX.

I wore Costas for years and really like them. Then I got a pair of Maui Jim's and I liked them more better. I swear this pair with glas lenses you can clean with steel wool. I use them for fishing and in the yard. I also have a pair with polycarbonate lenses in the truck for light duty. Both are so old I can't remember when i got them.

I have multiple pair of Costas. Never had lens issues except the polycarbonate pair that fell off while I was running and I stepped and slid on them.
Every now and then they have a clearance sale via the Amazon store.

If you ever have the frame come apart at the temple, save the parts, take a pic and submit it to the warranty dept. They'll make it right.

I was going to gripe about how costa and Oakley, as well as 95% of the market, is owned by luxotica

And Maui Jim is a stand alone

but some conglomerate just bought Maui Jim

Since my current Costa polycarbonate lenses look like crap and are cloudy as anything, I decided to take advantage of the above mentioned sale. I ordered one of the bronze glass lenses to see if I have better luck. Also ordered a pair of glass Maui Jim’s to compare them too.

I liked Serengeti sun glasses. Their bronze lenses are the best I have ever had. The frames always took a crap on me. Got tired of buying new glasses once a year. Went to Oakleys.

This is the problem I have with both Oakley and Costa. Oakley sold out a few years ago and the quality went down, so I switched to Costa. Now they have sold out so I'm switching again. Check out Bajio Sunglasses. It's some of the Costa guys that started there own thing after losing their jobs here in Florida when Costa sold to Luxottica.

Took a quick look at Bajio and had 2 observations.

    1. All 23 of their models look very similar to each other
    2. They look huge on the face (at least the few that I glanced at the details)

I used to wear Raybans. My eyes would hurt after a full day of motorcycle riding. When I bought my first pair of Serengetis and they made my eyes feel relaxed compared to the Raybans.
