Rock sliders

RCI or White Knuckle are both solid choices. There are a few others as well.

Do some reading on other threads too. There is a reason a few makers stand out.....they make good stuff and have good customer service.

I almost bought a few sketchy brands to save a couple hundred bucks. In the end, it wasn't worth the risk and gamble.

Now that I have full sliders, I'll never go back to owning steps that bolt to the body again.

Mine came in around $2k (Canadian), landed, finished by me, taxes and duty, all in. Best purchase I have made for my truck. I'm cheap and it was difficult to spend that, but I'm glad I did.

 

another +1 for WKOR. They run a sale once a year around Thanksgiving. 15% off.

Installed them myself and drilled extra holes. Rock solid and saved my bacon few times already.

 

The nice thing about this forum is although we all seem to defend what we have decided on, some of us have ate shit along the way and learned through hard knocks. And in the end, we want the next guy to avoid our mistakes. I nailed the sliders, but rear suspension has been a battle, lol.

 

don't start me on 35's should Have listened to the guys instead of doing 33's, 295 then finally 35's..haha

We all learn as we go, for sure. There are lots of quality sliders out there and we all have our preferences, for sure, but in the end we share what we've learned so others can make an informed decision. It's what makes this a great forum. I may love my RCI sliders, but I wouldn't look down on anyone for getting Victory, WKOR, SDHQ, etc. We all do what we feel is best.

 

I am new to Toyota trucks, this is my first tundra and I got the trd pro but I’m learning I just should’ve got an sr5 and I could’ve customized the truck way more without feeling guilty about taking stuff off, so now I’m not touching the suspension since the Fox shocks are the reason it’s a pro, I have to be careful with what off road bumper I get so it doesn’t affect the safety sensor in the grill but you live and you learn right lol, but so far I’m glad I found this site, I’m getting good info on what sliders to avoid and where to look

Nobody makes all the perfect choices. And at this point, I'm not sure you have made any mistake, or better, things to change/swap. Best thing you can do is run your truck and use it the way you will. Needs will become apparent. Disclosure: I'm the original owner of a 2005 2WD DC. Tundra Solutions member. Leveled it, got the plug and play sub and drove it for years and was stoked. Joinded this forum in May 21 because I had just done a shit ton of work on the boy's 4R and decided it was my turn. Today, my truck is a different animal. It's easy to mod a truck 17 yrs old...

 

The C4 Fab front bumper with the large hoop works with the Pro Grille. It's the one I want, but it won't work with the honeycomb grill of the SR5. If it weren't so expensive I'd consider swapping my grille again to accommodate the bumper. It's not cheap, but I think it's the best looking one there is. I should say they are the best looking ones, because I like both of their front bumpers.

That hoop won’t interfere with the safety sensor in the grill?

 

I know this is kinda off topic of the thread but has anyone here with Fox shocks gone through a rebuild yet? I was gonna ask my Toyota dealership next time I go in for service what the process is since I’ve read that the shocks need to be rebuilt every 50k miles for normal on road use, I just bought mine and I’m about to turn 40 k but I read only Fox can rebuild them and it’s like a month turn around time

 

Nope. The sensor is below the bar and unobstructed.

You might be able to find some info on rebuilding yourself, or possibly finding an offroad shop that could do it. The gamble there is whether or not it's done correctly. Plenty of idiots in those shops that think they can fix anything and mess stuff up. I've been on the receiving end of this.

Personally, I'd skip the dealer contact Fox about them. See what they say. The dealer will be a waste of time.

Those look really nice. I'll leave it to the cali raised crew to chime in on the sliders. Don't pay the 400 for line-x or Rhino if you are leaning that way. 200 for the powder coat is reasonable. Or just do this.

I plan on doing bare metal and painting it myself since shipping adds over 200 bucks to the price, Since my truck is black and has the trd red accents I was thinking of trying to match that red and paint the sliders that color

 

I don't think it will be a good look with red. I initially went for a charcoal, looked weird, not just to me. That under the body stuff looks best black. But, since you are doing it yourself, easy to switch if you decide.

 

I do plan on putting that black grip tape for traction getting in and out by the front and back doors so that could help tie it all in? I dunno

 

Doesn't matter if anyone else likes it so long as you do. Besides, if you paint it red and don't like it, it's easy to paint over.

 

Black and red go well together. It's not a truck so there'd be more red, but this shows it pretty well.




You could also go with black paint and red tape.





Whatever you do, make sure that you like it. Nobody else has to.

If you are in the San Diego Area check out The Truck Shop. They will custom build your sliders and weld them on... Mine are a full 102" and run well to well...

 

Oh, custom ones would be nice. I'm in the middle of nowhere, and based on the OP's username I'm gonna guess he's nowhere near CA either. Do you have additional pics?

 

Yeah I do... here are a few including Two of the weld points firstvweld point is the rear most mount past where the frame begins to angle up which is why it has the longer box support.

I put victory 4x4 sliders on my 2020. Haven't had a chance to test them yet but they feel solid compared to the factory side steps. Installed them myself and bolted on for now. Only took about 2hrs. At the time I chose the victory's because of lead time but I kind of wish I would've gotten sliders with the kick out.

 

Went with CBI OffRoad 1320$ list price + shipping and state taxes.

 

I'd have them add some gussets on top of those legs! That's a lot of truck to be supported by just the leg. I have cut sliders off that didn't have gussets and had started to push in the frame at the top of the leg.. and that was on a first gen Tacoma. Nice idea throwing that extra support up there like that
