I got the Time Machine tour on DVD! I saw them in 2008 as a gift from my girlfriend. I was so damn excited that I asked her to move in with me at the concert. (Married to this day)

I like some of Springsteen’s music - this certainly ranks up there as his best and a great one overall.

At the same time - as with most musicians - I can’t stand his need to toss out political opinion.

Alice Cooper was one of many who have been vocal on why musicians just need to shut the hell up with their political beliefs and let the music do the talking. Unfortunately for Bruce - he often now lets politics filter into the music and it divides the audience.

It is of course a complete double standard in rock - in the late 60s - EVERYONE was political - but the audience was united in their opinion so it was fine. Somewhere in the 80s after we used up all the topics we could agree needed our attention (aids, Africa and farmers) - we started touching on things like abortion, socialism, racism etc and and everyone split - and for some reason certain acts felt they had to be the second coming of Woody Guthrie.

Same reasons I wouldn’t pay to see a Pearl Jam or Ted Nugent live performance. I know there’s going to be a rant at some time during the show potentially and I don’t need a singer telling me I’m wrong because I don’t side with them. John Prine had it right many years ago - stay independent.

Neil Young comes to mind and Dave Mustaine has been a born again Christian since the early 2000s, though I don't think it's affected his music or shows too much.

Yea. Neil is another mouth that just won’t stop.

I actually saw him the first time in I think it was 96? HORDE or whatever the name of that stupid festival was - the one Blues Traveler organized - it was the year they stayed out of the lineup - and the old hippie stepped in.

I knew his music of course - never really thought much about him though. Absolutely an amazing show though and made me appreciate his music so much more. Then I started reading more about him and made me realize for the first time that someone could be a musical genius and a complete idiot at the same time.

Neil is that type of guy who needs to understand how something works and will tear it apart just to try and understand it better - at the same time he just manages at times to absolutely destroy things because he can’t leave well enough alone. He’s like that with his politics too - he just can’t accept that not everyone sees the world through his eyes.

Guys like Mustaine do a good job of understanding their personal beliefs are PERSONAL. I know a few people like that - so up to them, say hello and express an opinion they share and they are happy to talk about the topic all day long - but they aren’t shoving it down your throat because you came up, said hello and told them how much you liked the last album.

If I could only pick one, it would be Quadrophenia.

Most of the others mentioned above are absolute classics as well...except Kiss Live:)

Here's an example of one about Mustaine's personal faith journey that's really listenable and not excessively preachy, in my opinion.

This is one of those questions that I would answer differently every time I was asked. And sitting here right now, I would say I don't have a favorite. But there are a number that I could arrange in any order.

    Todays Top 3 would include:

    Prince 1999
    The Clash - London Calling
    Frampton Comes Alive

Ask me tomorrow, and who knows, that list might include any of the following:

    Husker Du - Zen Arcade
Stevie Wonder - Songs In the Key of Life
    Live Dead
X - Live at the Whiskey
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
    The Who - Tommy
Prince - Sign O the Times
    Zappa - Freak Out

And a bit embarrassed on this one...Bruce Springsteen - The River (once in a while it just fits my mood).
I would love for some Replacements to be on this list, but IIRC their double album is a greatest hits affair, and another live double is just not their best effort.
Nugent Double Live Gonzo is an album I enjoy..but would never make my top 10 on any day.

Was thinking of All Eyez the other day - double rap album. Unheard of at the time - rap was about singles - just so damn much in that album and mist of it actually good.
