What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Gave her a fresh oil change yesterday.

Getting closer to timing belt time. Not looking forward to it.

 

I had to replace the carrier bearing a second time. This time it lasted a year before failing and leading to popping when accelerating. Hopefully it lasts longer this time. At least it’s easy to replace.

 

that's a whole lot of spare tireage. I like it.

Got a full set of Tekton 6 to 24mm Wrenches, Shallow/Deep Impact sockets, and a Blue Ridge Overland Gear Tool Roll that will live in my truck from here on out.

 

Wrapped up my hidden winch install today. Used the Amp'd Up mount. Trying out this cheap-ass ebay winch cause I'm a cheap ass.

(LOL. Ignore the curb feeler lookin things. Those were for a nut I inserted into the frame for a 3rd bolt for some recovery points. That extra length is trimmed off now, I just had done it after these pics.)

 

Pretty damn slick. Run that winch even when you don't need too. And spool it all for a recovery or wrap that thing under a load. Why are your curb feelers under the truck?

Ooooh that looks great! I have this product saved in my bookmarks and wanna pull the trigger on it one of these days. I was curious to see how a fellow FGT owner likes it so im glad you gave us a some pics. Looking forward to any feedback going forward. Although, take your time, I dont need to be tempted to buy this anytime soon LOL.

I haven’t measured piston size. But the rotors are 332mm and 32mm thick. I believe pads are slightly larger than stock. Pistons appear similar in size but again, haven’t been measured

And then USPS dropped off an extra surprise

Now I need to stop "bleeding $$$ " for a week or two

 

EBC rotors and orange stuff pads installed.



Removed the blown shit-tecs and installed the band-aid Billies. Still fighting that Coconino mud on the undercarriage.



I'm losing a little bit of droop going to these but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make in order to get some rebound back. Since these shocks aren't the end goal I'm not too concerned.



The part of the shaft that is usually inside the body is discolored. From getting hot, I would imagine.



I'm going to pierce them open another day to see how much oil is left in each of them, if any.

 

Did you tint the windshield? 50% ceramic on the windshield is barely noticeable but the reduction of heat is great along with UV protection so your dashboard doesn't fade and then there is the reduction of glare from oncoming car headlights.

How much of an improvement is the EBC over stock?

 

Haven't driven it yet, but my stock rotors and pads are long gone. These are replacing another aftermarket rotor that warped.

 

I have done nothing to the windshield...............Yet

We have invested in sunshades since we moved down and thankfully Toyota/ Lexus stepped up and replaced my dash on the RX330 with their "Dime"

I will try this and if on longer drives the cab does draw enough heat to warrant the windshield being done, so it will be....

 

Finally have my double shade visor.

 

I understand they can tint the front windshield in clear now. No color, but keeps the heat & UV out.

 

I'd be up for that! F'ing NH won't allow any tint on the side glass. (I drive between NH and MA)

Probably so the Statey sees if you're packing when he approaches.

 

Then I am in deep $hit when we go back "Home" to Dova' to visit family Con's Corolla has Florida Factory tint and we all know what my Tundra looks like

 

If your tint is within legal range of the state vehicle is registered then your good no matter where you go. I'm from NY but I ran Florida plates and use to drive through multiple northern states with 25% tint without issues. Florida tint limit is 28% I think. The windshield is a different story, it ain't legal no where.


Edit; if the cop is a dick, he can and will ticket you but you can beat the ticket with proof of registration and receipt showing the tint % that is within legal range of that state

 

Never seen clear tint other than factory. I Tinted my Siennas front windshield 50% which is completely illegal here in CA but oh well I'm definitely cooler with the family riding. Now my Sequoia I'm waiting to replace the windshield one day and then Tinted it.

 

Changed the motor mounts, glad I started early, like most things, twice the time it should have taken...

 

I know it's an old post but I forgot to take the paint brush outta the Ospho a while ago. It ate the bristles. What do you do with your brushes? Water neutralizes it so can I just wash them out? Not supposed to pour the shit down the drain but can I safely neutralize and keep the brushes for another use with just water? Trying to do this the right way ....

Windshield tint sounds good. What's that run? I get a new windshield about every two years. Anybody know if you can get the tint paid for by insurance with a windshield replacement?

 

I wrapped up a double cab console swap this weekend along with a usb port in one of the dummy plug slots. Way better then the old one IMO.

 

Probably need a Dr.'s note about light sensitivity for the insurance to cover it - assuming it was legal to be tinted in your community.
