after 9 months and several delays my Canadian SR5 TRD Sport is supposed to arrive next month ..Not holding my breath.. Anyway the Canadian order guide I mentioned elsewhere dated Sept 2020 specifies the SR5 TRD Sport has the 389 HP engine. a Canadian youtuber reviewing the same truck stated it was the 348 hp engine. After marching into the dealer and inquiring . They stated the the Toyota Product trainer said "only the base model SR has the lesser 348 hp engine"
Well we al know just how much you can trust a car dealer..

My question is : How can I verify the HP my engine has when my truck arrives?
window sticker ? VIN number ? Option Code?

I would think the dealer service or parts would know ,but the service writer asked me if the motor mounts of my wifes Camry was part of the Emergency brake system ..Dope

The exact engine model should be on the Monroney sticker, maybe even the HP. If your truck is on the way already, maybe the dealer can pull the sticker for you off their system.

Thanks and after 55 years 40 cars and 5 new ones I did not know the window sticker was called a Monroney Sticker ..good to know. My Salesman thought 09/17 was August so the chance of them being able to pull anything up of any system would be a miracle.

In the US the only model with the detuned 348hp motor is the base SR trim. No idea if this applies to Canada though.

Should definitely be the standard 389 HP version. Only SR gets the detuned 348 HP engine. This should apply to Canadian models as well.

Well august is the 8th month and 17-9=8. Anyway, I think Toyota also has a vin lookup site to pull your sticker. I searched and only found the recall site, but I thought there was one to pull your specs if you have the vin already.

Toyota took that part of the site down a little while ago. I used it to look up vehicles that I was looking at purchasing. I believe it is still available for your own vehicle if you registered it on their site with your user name… or something like that.
