Forgive my novice questions as I'm new to the truck world.

I bought a 2012 Tundra with 117k miles which had a 2 1/2" leveling kit already installed. The black shocks appear to be the originals and I'd like to upgrade the suspension. Rear shocks I'm assuming I can just swap out no problem. What about the front? Is there a anything I need to do different to make up for the extra height of the leveling kit or do I just replace the front as if it were stock.

Also, what brand/model shocks does everyone recommend? I see Bilstein 5100 mentioned quite a bit.

    Thank you.

Lots of options. low end $ 5100s, 6112s. mid level $OME, Dobinsons, Toytec lifts, Eibach Pro truck 2. The mid levels you can get fully assembled, so easy to just swap in the new parts. Toytec and Eibach are 0-2.5 lift, adjustable on the truck, think that is still true for the older Pre 2014 tundras. For the $, hard to beat the Eibach setup at about a grand for assembled adjustable coil overs and matching rear shocks.

But there are many great options, much depends on your budget and intended use. Tons of info in the suspension forum about different setups, builds, pics, etc.

If you're looking to keep it leveled then you'll need a taller shock than stock offers... the above mentioned brands are all good options.

I've had the 5100s on my truck, switched out the fronts for Eibach Stage 1 (for more lift), but now I'm switching the fronts out to bilstein 6112s for the bigger shock body and better off road handling vs the Eibach stage 2.

What's your budget? What're you looing for? (leveled? lifted?) What do you use your truck for? (only paved roads? dirt roads? aggressive washboard and whoops?)

Looking for suspension help for my 2018 tundra limited 4x4 double cab. It has the stock bilstein 5100s with 31" K02's.
I've only had this truck for 6 months, but have owned older Tundras. I love Tundra trucks too much not to drive bc of a failed back surgery.. I'm looking for the best ride possible on & off road. I do feel every bump and it wears on me after awhile. Prolly don't want to lift it , it's fine to me where it's at.. thx for any input.

I'd try and go with a reservoir shock, maybe something like the Fox 2.0's, I can't quite tell you what to go with, but try posting either a main thread asking for help, or give the boys at shock surplus a call, they're good guys and can help steer you in the right direction
