Ok- everything I’ve read my TRD pro has a 32 gallon tank…

pulled up to put my E 30 mixture in (JB4) Gas station was out.

Pumped regular stock 87 :turtleride: and it only pumped to 27.3 after topping off (Fuel light was on and I had 12 miles till empty).

They seem to all be reading this way. My capstone with same fuel tank I can never get more than 26 gallons. And fuel range never reads more than 440 miles

Toyota keeps a pretty healthy reserve level in the tanks before they’re “empty” to keep liquid around the fuel pump so it doesn’t overheat.

You’ll never get 32 gallons into a 32 gallon gas tank at the pump. There’s always some gas left in the tank, even if you ran it until it quit. The fuel pickup likely can’t scrape every ounce of gas from the tank. You also always want to have your fuel pump
Submerged in liquid to help cool it.

Most manufacturers tend to make it so the tank shows empty even though there is still a few gallons in the tank. One of those "safety" things to prevent people from running out gas. If I recall I think my Tacoma always had about 2-3 gallons left in the tank when the display would say 0 miles to empty.

My 38 gallon tank has essentially 8 gallons of reserve

Yes, on the 2.5 Gen 38 gallon tank we have an 8 gallon reserve. It’s nuts

Yeah my 2014 tundra 4.6 had 26 gallon tank but would only take 20 gallons. I guess 6 is the magic number

I don't recommend doing what this guy did in his video. However, it helps illustrate the whole "It's saying I'm empty and have I have a 32 gallon tank but I can only put ~28 gallons in my tank when I fill up" issue that pops up regularly on the forum.

Every manufacturer has a healthy, healthy fuel reserve.

Yeah 27 gallons seems to be the norm. Might mean you can run it for a long time after it says empty.

Most I ever filled up in my 3rd gen was 28 gal. That's driving 10 miles after the DTE went 0.

    Hahh...
I invite you to the wonderful world of marine fuel gauges then.
Think running outta gas on a paved road with easy access to civilization is tough? Try "guessing" how much fuel you really have in a stupid boat, where the gauge went to ZERO 30 mins ago, and you're still a few miles away from the boat ramp (on a river, in the middle of nowhere).

All the reasons stated above for conservative reserve fuel are valid.
Both for equipment and "ppl" protection.
