Those Pesky Kids bent my bumper

Kid up the street he's about 10, was riding his go cart and decided to come up my driveway and turn around. Ended up with the rail catching my bumper. Looks like both the chrome cover and reinforcement bent.

 

That sucks but gotta ask about the kid. He gonna be OK?

looking at about $250 plus tax and shipping for parts you said.

Either talk to the parents about what happened and see if theyll cover it or tell them that their child is not allowed to go on your property and fix it yourself.

 

Time for a nice off-road bumper and use the damages they pay for to subsidize it

 

Make him rake/mow your yard for a year, and get a bumper that can handle kids.

my buddy ran my minibike under some guys parked car when we were 10-12. That guy pitched a fit, so we sprinkled bean seeds in his yard.

 

The kid and his sister jumped out and ran away. Then I pulled it free and they ran back jumped in and took off.
I had told him to stay out of my yard over a week ago when he almost hit my daughters car with his electric scooter.
Several cars have had to slam on brakes to avoid him.
I spoke with the mom and now the dad is avoiding me.

I'll probably end up fixing it myself, and the next time he goes riding I'll call the cops. The issue of golf carts, go carts and 4 wheelers has come up befoe and they are illegal on public streets here.

 

That's what I came up with as well. Found a really good video that shows how to dissassemble the rear bumper. They were swapping to a CBI.

 

Call 911 he's just going to do it again, to your or someone else's car/truck... Patients need to take accountability/responsibly for their kids actions. Total BS whats going on now a days. My dad would have whoop my ass if I did something like that and work off the money to pay for it..

 

Cops are going to say it happened on private property and deal with your insurance company. Get estimates on parts and take it to the brats parents. Tell them they buy the parts and to be neighborly you'll do the labor. If they don't pay get estimates for a shop to do the work, the highest three and take him to small claims court. That will at least get you a judgment. You may never get paid until he gets an income tax return.

Regardless, pull the parts and try to straighten them yourself and pocket the cash for your trouble

 

Yeah, been through that when my sons car was hit at school. They even said that was private property. All they will do is take a report for insurance. In the end, his parents insurance covered the repairs.

When I say call the police, I'm talking about the next time he's running up and down the roads in his go cart. And I get that they probably wont show up while he's running around. But I can give them the video of it.

Hopefully it all works out for you in the end. Just remember to keep documentation of everything because the police wont do much with just the typical "he said she said" kind of stuff. Take pictures or videos.
