I was fortunate to receive [NOT] a nice smack from some loser at a golf tournament. The a$$wipe couldn't even bother to leave a note taking accountability for their actions, so, it turns into a hit and run that I am now stuck with on the deductible for repairs :censored::censored::frusty:!

Curious to know how long have you guys had to wait for repair parts to come in and get the bodywork fixed? I was hit in July 11th, had the inspection for the claim July 20th, and am booked in for repairs 3rd week of September...assuming the parts show up. I checked in with the Autobody Shop this week to see if they ordered the parts yet and they have said they have not which concerns me a bit. With this being such a new design, and the shortages on supply, I am concerned parts will not arrive in time...

Damn. Sorry to hear (and see) that OP. My thoughts are with you.

Side note: Very strange damage pattern. Makes me wonder what they were driving. High enough to not damage your running board, but tall enough (and skinny/pointy enough) to make that tall dent. Strange.

Yeah. Gotta be, I would think...or maybe a box truck/van/truck with a utility box. Who knows? Whatever it was...it sucks.

Posts like this make me glad I have my dashcam with a rear camera that activates based on a gyro. If it detects an impact, it'll record for 30 or 60 seconds.

Though it might not have caught any action due to the side impact. Makes me want to think about side cameras mounted at the rear PS & DS windows.

I'm not a big fan of Tesla overall, but I do think their Sentry Mode feature is pretty smart for this reason.

I was parked facing North, other vehicles to my driver side were parked at an angle south. Apparently the truck [assumption based on the damage] backed out and cranked the wheel such that instead of heading south out of the parking lot, they went north.

No security cameras in the parking lot.

Pretty certain they would have felt the impact the MF'ers. My guess, they were drunk and after hitting my truck, blasted out of there hoping no one saw or heard.

I had a minor fender bender back in May. Took my 22 1794 Army Green to a toyota collision center. The truck was there from July 11 through August 23rd. It took quite a bit since there are no after market parts. The damage consisted of replacing the front bumber, grill assembly, chrome mustache, sensors, etc. Most of the items were on back order. The last item came in stock on August 5th. Wasn't assigned to a repair tech 12th. On the 15th is when they started working on it. Picked it up on August 23rd. Very frustrating.

That sucks. Sorry you need to deal with this on a new truck.

My daughter has a ‘22 Carolla Cross. Dealer damaged some interior trim pieces “detailing” the car and it took about 2 months for the replacement trim pieces to come in. I would expect long lead times for getting parts for a new model. IMO the body shop should order parts now.

When a tree jumped out in front of me and took out that same door, I went to a junk yard and was fortunate enough to find the same color door. Although yours looks like it can be popped out.

Hopefully they did last month...they indicated they do not normally order before two weeks out! I told them, this is not a normal truck that has been around for years with this design...

Totally sucks. I’ve had the same thing happen but not on a brand new truck! The only good thing was since it was non moving the insurance claim did not affect my insurance statue jacking up the rate.

What parts are they waiting to order ?!?

That door “could” be fixed - but I’d say the majority of techs out there wouldn’t want to try it. It’s going to oil can like crazy and the time they would have in it vs just hanging a new door just isn’t practical.

I’m sure doors aren’t readily available - but gotta be some out there by now. Make insurance buy a new shell and move on with it. I wouldn’t want a repaired door and would never skin a door on a new truck. Just me though - depending on the insurance some have zero problem saving a nickel and arguing with a shop just to prove they are right.

Oh yea - 2 words to add DASH CAM

The prices are now to a point there’s no excuse not to have one. $250 is well less than a deductible. Hit runs and red light disputes daily convinced me I need one in all my vehicles - cheaper models available under $80 now.

I follow a dude on instagram called @denttime that repairs dents like that. Pretty wild. I have a feeling that door could be popped out and fix if you found someone who does paint less dent repair

My 2021 CM Tundra was hit by a person driving through a stop sign.( early Nov.) They were ticketed for two violations.Their fault. Their insurance company will pay for the repair. (That’s a long story too) A Toyota dealer near me has a collision dept. Scheduled for repair last week. This week i was told by TOYOTA that new doors and skins were on National back order and no one knows when and/ if they will become available. I called several parts distributors about doors for my truck, none available and they mentioned that Toyota may not produce certain parts..possibly replacement doors.. Not just Toyota. Now I’m wondering if my truck will ever get repaired. A couple local collision places won’t schedule my truck for repair due to lack of parts ect…. I feel stuck and PO’d at times.. I’ve even thought of taking a loss and get a new truck.

That sucks. I wish you the best. You are posting to the 3rd gen forum. Might get better responses from the 2.5 gen folks.
