Just needs different wheels and tires. With the low miles that's a deal.

You see this with any vehicle that has an enthusiast following. Somebody probably laid out a ton of money on those mods, and was then crushed in disbelief that no one would give him 80 grand for it… then he just traded it in and took whatever loss he had to.

Not my cup of tea FORSURE.

It will be interesting to see how long it sits at that price. Only a handful of people are really going to see the value. I hope some truck nut out there is the perfect match for it and goes home smiling, thinking he made out like a bandit.

Talk all the shit you want but I've seen way worse for far more. That truck would look great with a different grill, no flares, and smaller wheels with bigger rubber. It's a unicorn with a lift which, in my book, makes it a unicorn among unicorns

Poor truck. Someone out there high as fuck after huffing paint, snorting glue and suffering from severe CTE thought that would be a good idea.

Not too many traditional Malls left here in Colorado if any. I can't imagine this is a Colorado truck but things have been changing here the last few years. Great.....

I don't know any local wheeler that would buy that. Someone will. Definitely an outlier here...

I meant no malice at all. I re-read my posts and I don’t think I was being a dick.

My first car was a free Dodge Aspen. I abused it badly. It ran and never died, and I drove it to an auto recycler to get $400. Real genuine Mopar.

The next series of cars for me were all old VW’s.

By 19, I had and learned to completely disassemble and reassemble a 1966 bug. By 25, I’d owned another 2. At 35 I bought and fully restored a 4th, a 1960 I still have and tool around in. The juxtaposition to my 6600# Tundra is a big part of the magic.

During my journey in VW’s (which continue to have a global
and very aggressive/assertive enthusiast following) I became familiar with how fetishistic and radical owners could be when they had a moldable, durable base to begin with.

People have installed V8’s in beetles. They’ve gutted and stretched them into luxury limousines. Some have grafted whole sections of modern vehicles onto bugs. Bugs have formed the base for replica and kit cars for decades. Dune buggies. Sand rails. Hell, people have used VWs and their parts to make aircraft, generators, water pumps, and you name it.

Please remember that the very basic VW platform was used extensively in WW2 as not only an early rugged utility vehicle, but also as an amphibious vessel.

So, since the 1930’s, the bug existed and people fucked with the design EN MASSE. Tip of the hat to Ferdinand Porsche.

But in the ensuing 90 years since the Type 1 started being produced, hackers had a field day with “bugs”.

I have seen shit you wouldn’t believe, so I will share a single bite with you all.

Imagine a vehicle owner looking at his pride and joy, and thinking “I can make this WAY better.”

Folks, this can veer in the most insane directions you can think of.

I have watched over years as people cut, welded, fused, re-worked, modified, hacked, and finally finished with a diarrhea-like bout of spending that included a $25,000 paint job on a piece of shit no one with half a brain would buy.

All of them… ALL. ALL of them were insulted and filled with rage when no one wanted to buy the end result for even a fraction of what they had spent. Every fiasco ended up with them hating their own car and leaving forums like jilted lovers after people told them why no one wanted their pile of crap.

Some of their vehicles actually became legendary.

Here is one such story. Such blind faith in a project that the owner continued adding long after the party was done. And then it got handed off. And there the story really starts, and the car (a silly beetle) becomes lore.

    if you dare:

Someone wasted a lot of money. Someone else that has no idea what off-road means will buy it and drive it until it's trash or wreck it. I give that truck two years, at most, before it's in the crusher or on blocks in some crackhead's yard.
