    Hey! I'm currently looking at buying a 07 5.7 l sr5. I'm unsure about the amount of rust on the undercarriage and could use y'all's opinion it's got 280k on it asked ng price is 13k. Any input is appreciated !

    Welcome, that looks like surface rust on the suspension. You need to be concerned about the frame.

    Search rusty frame for examples.

    It might be ok. Many Tundra's had their frames replaced for free as part of a rust recall, so you should check the actual frame.

    If it's covered in rust like that, look for weak spots by poking it with a screwdriver. Also check the bed under any cover add the cross member under the bed.

    So those pics are not showing the real rust.. cause that light brownish or reddish and it could just be mud.. I would look at the frame or as @mike diamond posted the Lower & Upper control arms (LCA/UCA) will give you a decent idea of what's bad and whats good.. Especially the LCA/UCA and the frame in front of the truck which anchors the radiator and such would show rust.. if you touch it and you see flakes coming off then its a NO NO.. also be on the look out for shady dealers who cover up rust by paint the frame black..

    or better yet just buy from a Tundra you know that has been driven in the south or out west. Those should be pretty much rust free.
