The door, coin compartment has got to be the most annoying part of the Sequoia. Any turns, bumps, or pot hole. My coins shifts and makes a racket. I like the idea of the compartment. But, it seems coins weren't ment to be stored here. Is there any other ideas on this?20220817_195254.jpg

It's the 'secret stash' spot. :D

kidding. I never noticed it until a week after i bought the truck. Previous owner used it from the wear inside of it. Just not sure what it was for.

An idea just popped into my head.. if you can unlock/lock your car with your phone, it would be a good place to put your keys.

I assumed it was a hangover from the days of ashtrays. Makes great storage for assorted loose keys...

You’d lose space. But I imagine someone can probably devise a 3D printed coin holder to fit in the cubby. Seems like enough room in there to leave groves to retrieve said coins.

    Above my pay grade though.

I had a subaru once where I had a similar storage spot for coins. I cut 2 or 3 pieces of felt from the craft store and sprayed the backside with spray glue and it made a big difference

I once tried to remove the coin door. So I could apply the flex paint. But, it didn't easily separate. I think, I need to remove the whole door panel. To get access to the securing feature of the coin door.

Agree about the noise. I put thin felt with adhesive on one side in there and it is surprisingly silent. And yeah, you can't take it out without removing the whole panel so I applied the felt in strips until all the plastic was covered.

Gen 2 Tunnies have them. They were taken out of the Gen 2.5 along with most all other storage spots.

All I ever kept in the door compartments was a little sunglass cleaning kit.

Oops, missed the bit about it not being a Tundra in the first post. I was referring to my 2nd gen earlier, checked this morning and it is definitely an ashtray in the Tundra - open it, lift up and it easily comes out of its pocket.

I had those pockets on my 2010 and if you remove them, they unsnap flat which allows you to use peel and stick felt.

I don’t have a photo but it worked out well.

Open halfway, lift up , then pull one side out at a time. Comes right out.

There are a few rarely used, if ever, odd and ends in mine. I wrapped everything in a tissue so it doesn't rattle.

My Tundra has this. I cut and glued a piece of 1/8" closed cell foam in the bottom and keep keys in there.
