2022 Tundra vs 2022 F-150 opinion?

I more meant it'll end the conversation of "for the same price get a Raptor." Now that's there's a 9k difference it ain't so easy.

My 21 ICE F150 spent 2 days in "in production" status. My Lightning has been there for 8.............and counting.

 

Mine has been "built, and awaiting shipping" since 5/31. Which is beyond frustrating. Just stick it on the truck already.

 

I know that feeling. mine took 2 months after from built in KC to delivered in STL . Like bro.......it's 4hrs away.

 

The extra 7 hp and 13ft-lbs of torque in the Toyota aren’t nearly enough to overcome an extra 500-600lbs of curb weight. The off-road oriented 33” tires and wheels also probably weigh more than rubber/wheel combo on the Ford and that extra rotational mass doesn’t help either.

I will note the EPA combined mileage estimate for the iForce Max 4X4 models is 19/22/21, according to the Toyota website. Not sure where you pulled your information. A 2MPG penalty vs the Ford is about what I’d expect given the Toyota is hauling around an extra 1/4 ton of weight all the time.

I think you're taking my comment as a comparison to the Ford. Its not. The 1 mpg gain vs regular iForce, the lack of generator capability, and the apparent minimal gain in performance over a regular iForce are what make it a miss in my book. It doesnt seem to offer a lot for the added price, complexity and weight. The TRD pro was actually slower than Andre's Limited TRD OR in the 1/4 by nearly half a second. It should have been even or slightly faster just based on the weight and HP differences.

Honestly, the Powerboost doesn't interest me a ton either EXCEPT for the generator capability. I would buy it for that reason alone since I tow a travel trailer and camp without hookups way more than I do with hookups. Otherwise, I dont think either one offers a ton of benefit to my driving conditions, which are mostly 55 mph 2 lane roads and lots of high speed freeway towing.

Also, I wouldnt be so sure on the tires. My F150 was on 275/60R20's with OEM Ford 20" wheels, which are what is on that king ranch, and the 315/70R17's I replaced them with were only 1.5 lbs heavier total. I would bet the Tundra wheels/tires are pretty close to the same weight or maybe even lighter with those fancy BBS forged wheels.

 

For MY23 ford just added the 5.0 to the tremor lineup. That's a pretty big deal and probably will open it up to more folks.

 

Doesn’t blow my skirt up unless I planned to slap on a blower. But I’m pissed you can get Star White and I had to settle for Oxford.

 

with MY23 I'd rather have avalanche or azure blue. My 23 Raptor is avalanche and been waiting for that color to return.

 

It seems kinda weird that the Tremor is so limited with regards to configurations. Good to see it moving in the right direction, although the powerboost I think might have been more interesting with the big generator.

 

I think it has to do with the Rattler coming out and trying to differentiate it. Ford is dropping the tremor low package and raptor is only available in one package now too. The "high" is now the raptor R which dealers are asking 140k+

 

Gotta dig deep in those pockets if you want to smoke your local TRXs.

Computer most of the time now that the weather warmed up. Most driving is in regular and not Eco mode.

12” Screen randomly went black once then came back on and kept working a few seconds later. Seems to have a weird electrical quirk here and there that comes and then goes away and doesn’t rear its head again. Mechanically as perfect as I could ask for. Enjoyable on a 5 hour each way and several 2 hour road

First vehicle I remember owning in my adult life where I felt like if I didn’t have to pee or sleep I could drive non stop for 24 hours. Seat contoured perfectly for my back. I think the driver’s one is 10 way but the lumbAr height isn’t adjustable. Just placed perfectly. Lower back used to start to ache in my 09 SR5 Cremax and even in my 2016 Challenger RT with adjustable height lumbar after about 2-3 hours. Ford got this seat just right at least for my body shape.

I like the options in the Tremor package, particularly the front torsen diff.

 

Not my truck, I’m picking mine up this week. But thats what mine will look like a week after I get it. The Torsen is great and the 402A package also gets you the Raptor transfer case

 

Have they done any updates or flashes to the powerboost power train yet?

during my test drive it was too clunky for my liking so I crossed it off the list

 

Yeah I believe I heard 4th was a little clunky, reports that Ford will flash it and it’s much improved

 

I know two people the flashing did nothing for. One guy’s trans started clunking hard when he got it back from having cam phaser work. Took it back in to have it flashed. He says it’s marginally better. And the cam phaser noise is back.

Small sample size, granted. But stories like this are not uncommon.

 

The one i tested was built 11-21, they updated since then ?

I did not realize that to use the Toyota rear locker you need to be in 4Low - bummer.
In my years with my 2018 Tundra have never gotten stuck to even have to go to 4 Low.
The line you use is very important in my opinion.
But to have the rear locker available in 4 Hi ...that would be peace of mind to me just based on my experience.
I guess Toyota figures you would not need to use it unless you were actually in 4 Low.......still.
What say u ?

My future son in law had a 2.7 F150 for a year before his 3.5 liter arrived.
His remarks on the 2.7 was it was clunky.
The 3.5 Liter is a Limited - it has everything.
The tow hooks are chrome *^0

Yep. Flew in, Granger had a guy waiting to pick me up, handed them a check and hit the road. I was able to e-sign ahead of time and since I didn’t finance it made the deal super quick.
